Alright I’m just going to throw out some bold speculation about the next two episodes. Wouldn’t be surprised if I’m going to be completely wrong about it though.
So this Amethyst arc is not over yet and will continue in the Bismuth special. Likely Amethyst will feel like a third wheel again once she sees Bismuth having a great time with her old war buddies Pearl and Garnet. I’m guessing Bismuth will eventually have her rabid dog moment, which will be the moment Amy wants to proof herself by defeating or sedating Bismuth at least. That’s when she gets outshined by another gem: Peridot. Bismuth turns out to be too strong for Amethyst. However Peridot realising Bismuth is a metal gem, will find a way to defeat Bismuth with her new found ability. Therefore another ego blow for Amethyst; outclassed by the newest member of the team who only recently learned she had in fact a power. Leading into Beta, Amethyst (whose self-esteem couldn't get much lower) sees how Lapis now seems to enjoy hanging out with Peridot and the other way around of course. Besides Steven, Peridot was the only gem who had complete attention to her, but now it's been divided for Lapis too. She might start to believe Peri doesn't like her anymore and rather hangs out with a way more powerful gem.
There is also her eye squint situation...She reformed too fast after getting beaten up by Jasper. There might be more to it

Steven's VA did a great job for once, the fight was cool, the dialogue was cute, the animation was spot on, perhaps the best Amethyst episode, and this is perhaps the most legit catharsis we've gotten in awhile between Steven and another character.
