More movement.

More lesbians

More fappble art style for existing lesbians.

Hire writers to write the dialogue. The characters speaking reaks of art school millennial garbage

crossover with Transformers

Make that image of pearl thinner

Give it a stable and consistent airing schedule. I think the reason the story feels like it moves so slow is that there's so long between new episodes and you never know quite when it's coming back.

MORE JASPER

No the story is slow because it's not a plot based show. Get this through your heads retards

Wabi-Sabi

Kill Lars. Less town filler episodes that don't have something to do with Steven learning something about his powers or Roses past. Accelerate Steven and Connie's progression (which after the Jasper episode may not be necessary. Make Amethyst a little less disgusting. Just a fucking little. eating egg salad made in the garbage disposal washed down with a jar of Mayo, really? More actual threats with better choreographed fights.

Keep it far the fuck away from this place.

It's not broken though. It just has rough edges at places.

Force them to actually TRY more. Steven needs to actually train regularly on screen. He needs to engage monsters more actively. He needs to actually contribute to a conflict instead of just being the "emotional core" of the team.

And if he's going to be that, make him actually empathetic. He almost fucked up Lars's life and stole his body and didn't even care. He broke up a couple and didn't care. He costs his dad millions by letting the gems break his shit constantly and doesn't care. Steven doesn't actually care about other people's problems, he's just the kind of guy who wants to see people make out and that's basically it.

Lastly, either cut Connie or drastically reduce her part. Connie is basically an excuse for Steven not to try because she can just pick up a weapon meant for him and cover his ass in some way or another. In a show called Steven Universe it needs to be Steven going through those trials and tribulations.

Because at the end of the day that's basically how you establish and build character. You show someone at their best AND worst. If Steven doesn't get more than a token cosmetic injury once in a while and then has someone else do the hard part he's not struggling and he's not picking himself back up and he's not doing the kind of things that make characters in this situation engaging.

Not being an edgy alt rightist who hates objectively well produced shows because they feature gay rocks would be a great start

The only non-adult show produced by the big boys lately that can hold a candle to SU was Gravity Falls, perhaps Wander Over Yonder if you count shows targeted at younger audiences.

Of course it's not a plot based show. It's a comedy.

You know. With all those jokes. Remember how hard you were laughing at the last episode?

Remember? Remember how FUNNY Steven Universe is?

It's hilarious.

ttg crossover

B-but that's what -I- am!

By replacing all the Canuck fans with French fans. Problem solved.

>Force them to actually TRY more. Steven needs to actually train regularly on screen. He needs to engage monsters more actively. He needs to actually contribute to a conflict instead of just being the "emotional core" of the team.
They've literally been doing exactly that lately. Steven's learned a lot of new abilities, did really well against Amethyst in a fight, and beat Bismuth by himself.

I know you're being sarcastic but Steven Universe has comedy every episode. Just not good comedy.

More Peridot

the animation can be better

He needs to ask some GODDAMN FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS.

If there's an evil space giraffe that wants to murder you, most people would see that as something to inquire about. "Who is this evil space giraffe? Why does she want to murder me? Are there more evil space animals that I should be made aware of?"

But no, fuck it, Steven just crams another cruller down his gullet and takes a nap even while agents of the giraffe skulk in the shadows plotting his demise.

Always. But we don't know their budget. We don't know if they're saving it for something or if they're spreading it thin trying to get a minimal quality.

I think despite the complaints about the fights lately, they're passable. Not fucking amazing, but they get a point across in the way they're directed.

cancel it

Good animation has less to do with budget and more to do with the skills of the crew. As it stands, almost everyone on the crew is new to the industry.

Watch episode 3, episode 56, and episode 85 and see if you're lost.

Give it a 1 a week schedule with normal seasonal breaks. No more bombs. No more events. No more hiatuses.

So? That doesn't make the show plot driven. It's very much a character driven show and all the conflicts revolve around the characters themselves. Basically, the plot is in service of the characters, not the other way around.

make it written not by a woman

Too little, too late. It's the end of Season 3. Doing some basic jogging and easy mode drills for an hour a week two years into things is basically the definition of a token effort.

Steven also didn't learn jack shit. He gets handed new power on the fly.

Shit, even Amethyst admits she's easily the weakest and worst Crystal Gem. Pep talks aside she got her ass utterly handed to her in a fight and is essentially useless in a conflict.

>As it stands, almost everyone on the crew is new to the industry.
I think they're doing particularly well then if that's the case. I'd love to see how good they can get.

I have to disagree tbqh. Many aspects of this show seem amateurish.

Wow user, that sounds really the game

That's good cinematography. Good animation is a matter of time and money and the actual animation is passed off to Koreans working slave wages who don't actually give a fuck about the show itself.

That said Steven Universe's choreography is still shit even by amateur standards because all they know how to do is copy anime and can't even draw on model 90% of the time.

>Shit, even Amethyst admits she's easily the weakest and worst Crystal Gem. Pep talks aside she got her ass utterly handed to her in a fight and is essentially useless in a conflict.
Are you even watching the same show? They're about to resolve that character arc in the next episode.

you sound like a little bitch trying to find problems

No? Look at One Punch Man, the staff had to say multiple times that it had the same budge and schedule as any other show, but it had a super talented crew behind it. Or hell, compare a show like WoY to SU which has much better character animation.

That's an asinine distinction and you know it. Good plot is driven by characters and it always has been.

If you have a bad plot, it's because you have bad characters. A main character who works one hour a week and then sits on his ass the rest of the time is not engaging because he's someone that clearly doesn't care about what's going on or consequences.

/ss/.

The animation of OPM is average. It's very much a show of talking heads.

The choreography is again what you're referring to. OPM is a manga that was basically storyboard out already in terms of shot continuity and gave them a strong base to work off of.

Pretty colors and cool camera moves are not animation. Animation is exclusivley how characters and effects move onscreen and quality almost exclusively refers to key poses and fluidity of movement.

Are you watching the same show as me?

First off, Steven does try and he's contributed to a conflict considerably. He saved the world by convincing the cluster to bubble themselves and fought Bismuth one-on-one. He's not the powerhouse of the team yet, and he shouldn't be. He's still just a kid.

Second, Steven is constantly empathetic to other people's issues. It's why he's the title character. He cares too much. Saying he fucked up Lars' life is a bit of a reach since Lars is an overdramatic jackass.

Third, Connie has used a sword in like 5 or so episodes to fight with Steven. And the episode we've seen for her this week was one where she wasn't ready for fighting in a situation where Steven was more or less prepared, and one where she was only able to really do anything with Steven's help. Acting like that is grounds for drastically reducing her part is stupid. If anything, she needs a bigger part to justify actually being part of the group at some point.

Steven's gone through a lot of changes from Episode 1 to now. His character isn't an amazing spectacle of writing, but it's not like it's the complete opposite. It's more towards adequate at this point.

this

Change the format to 30 minutes instead of 15. The Bismuth episode really proved that is something the show desperately needs. Everything flowed smoother and it left far more time to explore things and have actual fights.

"about to" doesn't count for anything until it's done.

They've been "about to" resolve that arc for the entire fucking season. Amethyst has been a self hating deadweight more or less constantly. If she suddenly gets better after being randomly handed an upgrade and one day of training it's not resolving an arc, it's deus ex machina.

Oh look another person who doesn't know anything about writing outside of cartoons dorrancepublishing.com/blog/character-driven-v-plot-driven-writing-whats-difference/

>If anything, she needs a bigger part to justify actually being part of the group at some point.

Her being a part of the group was never actually formally justified. She said "I want to join the team" and they went "ok" and then when it was brought up that she was a regular human who was too fragile to fight gems anyway it was kind of brushed aside.

That is the quick and easy way to fix ANY show. Gotham would be worth watching if there was /ss/.

this i want 30 minutes
