Missouri fits none of what you described for East America except hillbillies and most of what you described for West America. I will say though, from my time on the west coast (mostly around seattle), west coasters are some of the least relaxed and laid back people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting, it was fucking depressing being over there. That might have to do with the fact it always fucking rained, though.

I can't speak for all the other western states, but living in the Pacific Northwest is the worst. There's too many people moving out here, the weather makes me want to slit my throat, and the people are generally boring and unfriendly.
