gus is always a boring nerd, sometimes it ends up with funny situations (like when they went to england), and occasionally it contributes to the plot (like when a boring nerd similar to gus kills himself and gus wants to continue the investigation), but these are rare occurrences and gus is all around a character with paper-thin depth who almost always contributes nothing to the plot.
