what?

In Arizona you need a permit to dig up a saguaro.

...

I imagine it's to protect them, right?

Saguaros are vital for life in the American desert. Many animals live there and I think they even have fruit

Yeah they're protected. They grow only here in the Sonoran, take forever to grow to any decent size and contribute largely to the ecosystem like the Mexicanon said.

Desierto de Tabernas, Almería

Makes sense, it's the same with redwood trees in northern California. Tallest trees in the world, take very long to grow, only reproduce with wildfires, and are only found in the northern corner of California.

Canada is so big! We have everything, Did you know that we have deserts?

Let me guess, prairies?

we have huge dry areas, most foreigners think we are a huge rainforest

...

so fun that so many westerns were recorded in spain

...

...

Correct!

That looks like my area in eastern washington

I'm not that guy but I live in Kamloops BC (pic related) and it is semi-desert. It's really nice country, and the province of BC is a great place in general, it pretty much has every type of climate, you just need to avoid Hong Couver.

It's more like a giant cat litterbox than a desert but it's a desert nevertheless

Come on Russia, you have a lot more actual desert than even the Americans

the most huge is Arctic and snow deserts

Once upon a time in the West?

Desierto de las Tabernas and Monegros

I think I've been there once. I live close to the border and have been all around southern BC. The big park is V*ncouver is nice though.

In*

Yes, but that doesn't mean you don't have a fuckton of sand deserts

sand deserts a shit, arctic desert a best

in fact there are not many of them. Either snowy deserts in the permafrost zone or forests. Pic related is Chara Sands in Siberia

A desert is a desert, if you want to get technical on definitions salt deserts would be the worse

Vancouver is an alright place to visit, my job takes me there sometimes and I always try to spend a night there, visit the park, go to a hockey game, whatever, but I would definitely not want to live there.
