>Sequel has a different director
AAaaaannnnd Dropped
Sequel has a different director
>sequel is a prequel
>prequel is a soft reboot
What about Empire Strikes Back?
>implying Dawn wasn't better than Rise of the Planet of the Apes
>sequel is a plural of the first movies title
Nope nope nope
>Sequel starts off literally RIGHT AFTER the original film
I'm looking at you Incredibles.
But that's comfy
What films does this happen in?
I can't remember any off the top of my head but I have to agree with the other user that it's comfy
A dozen recent ones. John Wick 2 immediately comes to mind.
But that's a good one
Back to the Future Part 2
Halloween 2
Rocky 2
Quantum of Solace
Crank: High Voltage
>sequel is unnecessary
it's just an uninspired way to work a sequel. It's basically "we don't know what else to do for a sequel so let's just like, idk.... let's just continue exactly where the first finished." Why not just create a new story that contains the characters established in the original piece?
>original movie is good and the ending wraps it up well
>retarded fans start screeching for a sequel
>sequel has little substance but kicks the nudity up 1000%
>sequel is a direct to video/on demand title
>Sequel has a different director
That's often been more successful
>sequel has a returning character played by a different actor
Donnie Darko, kek
>sequel has a dead character return in the form of their twin
There's an exception to every rule. The OP is referring to when the studio drops the original reason for success, to hire someone cheaper.
In Lucas' case, he knew he was a shit director so hired someone good for EpV.
Then he hired someone shit for EpVI and there you go.
Incorrect.
karate kid 2
JW2 gets a pass because the title is technically john wick CHAPTER 2
City slickers
Crank
>sequel reprises a cameo role and has a camera shot thats way too long on the character for an applause break but it looks incredibly stilted considering you aren't there in the theater watching it when it came out
Aliens is kino
>In Lucas' case, he knew he was a shit director so hired someone good for EpV.
George Lucas wrote and directed Star Wars, he wrote the story of the next two sequels and told the director all the instructions he must follow, not to mention the editing process. They were basically the proto-Marvel puppets
>Directors have any impact on the movie
You're thinking of screen writers.
Can you give us some examples?
>major character is played by a different actor in the sequel
Based Quantum of Solace
This is reference to Pacific Rim II not being directed by del Taco right?
But Maggie G > Katie Holmes
Dunkirk II: No Holds Barred
>World War Z 2
You still sure about that OP?
>George can write a decent movie
Wew. 0/10
>not Ethan Hawke
shitcanned
>american remake
the evil dead series
>Sequel is marketed as the final installment and you know this will be the last time you get to escape to this movie's world to get away from your real life.
>Empire strikes back sucks because it had a new director
>Sequel is better than the original.
that direct-to-dvd sequel to the disney animated Jungle Book
