Russia is not a fair opponent to us. Separatists get infinite supply of all their needs. Russia wastes so much money on army so they can afford to transport old T-64 tanks from Krasnoyarsk Krai to Rostov by air (!) just to keep legend "these tanks had been captured from Ukrainians". There was a story about Kalmius batallion which was formed several times because the whole manpower just died out. Infinite soilders, technics, guns and ammo, clothing, supply, parts, everything. For a "rebels" pro russian forces have less equipment shortage problems than Ukrainian forces.

The rebels claimed half of Ukraine as Novorussia at the beginning of the war. But as of NOW the rebels only hold two cities. So, Ukrainian army noot only prevented the rebels from taking half of Ukraine, they literally pushed them back to the border. And the rebels almost lost everything if Russia had not intervened at the last moment. That is how Ukraine raped them.

Generally speaking, both this and OP questions are "easy" to answer. Poland would easily beat both Ukraine and Yugoslavia. Perhaps, when it comes to Ukraine it'd be harder, as there is no such huge disparity in resources(Ukraine has even larger population than Poland), but honestly, economically Poland is so much more powerful, that reason alone would allow Poland to beat Ukraine squarely unless it got surprised early. And that I consider impossible, Ukrainian's military is worse equipped and weaker than that of Poland. Also historically, Ukraine, despite her relatively huge potential it fails to maintain cohesiveness when under pressure.

About Western Balkans, it's 38 million vs 15 million. No chance. Poland has the edge in every conceivable category.

According to Wikipedia, the 2017 estimate is 42,418,235. This however includes both Crimea and Donbass. Crimea is 2.4 mln, LDNR is around 4 mln total, so taking away that already lowers the population to 36 mil which is lower than Poland's 38.4 mln

Add to that 1 mln ukropiteks that are working in Poland and can quickly be rounded up in POLISH DEATH CAMPS, and unknown how many but several, no less than 2 million Ukrainians that went to Russia after the war and Urine is left with 33 million at best.
