I saw The Big Parade (1925) last week. Most of it involves a love story but the war scenes are really well done. I thought John Gilbert was too old to play the lead, but it turns out he died 10 years later at the age of 36 so he would've been in his 20s during the filming. Smoking and drinking seems to have taken its toll.
