ITT: Characters that have been thoroughly fucked for years to come

ITT: Characters that have been thoroughly fucked for years to come.

...

I find it funny in this age of diversity pushing in comics. Marvel and DC have tons of minority characters on the back burner but won't bring them back. Guess they don't have enough black writers to take them on.

...

Except DC is working on a Milestone relaunch and you don't know what you're talking about?

Well on the Marvel side of things at least it doesn't help that rather than use their minority characters they're just replacing all the well known white ones with minorities. No idea why DC isn't pushing Static though, he's still popular among casuals because of the cartoon.

doesn't help that static's original creator died

Just going to leave this here.

Whats up with black super-heros and electric/cyborg powers?

...

>They'll never bring Static Shock back

They wont remember Static was against gang violence and was all for helping the police but he was also against gun violence since his mom died and his best friend got shot.

I dont really know I really liked Cartoon Virgil as a character I feel like they will fuck it up

It's sort of an overblown stereotype. There's only a handful and most of them are references/homages/replacements to Black Lightning. Also a lot of them only have electric powers indirectly.

Electric Boogaloo!

To be fair, nearly every Marvel character fits OP's description.
Just incase you thought somebody was still salvageable, Civil War 2 exists.

>nearly every Marvel character
How many Marvel characters do you think exist?

Alright, then. Everyone B list ans above.

Kind of a weird stereotype.

...

He's getting a mini with Adam Strange, probably just more Rann vs Thanagar shit though

>no one posted pic related
I don't think you guys understand the severity of just how fucked Bart Allen is. Like the only way the original Bart Allen can return is when the next universal reboot happens and even then, he'll still have some influences from Johns' and Lobdell's takes on his character.

Nah, Bar-Tor is such a different character entirely that there's no overlap at all. Literally nothing is stopping them from just introducing Bart as the son of one of the Tornado Twins in the 31st century again, I'd probably actually keep him with the LoSH though instead of rushing him to the present.

A lot of stereotypes are weird, but really like I was trying to say it's more something fans latched onto vs it actually being the case.

I agree that they could introduce Bart Allen (secretly hoping that when they off "Tim Drake," they introduce the real one), but the problem is, isn't that ridiculously convoluted and coincidental? That Bar Torr just happened to use "Bart Allen" as his alias? Swear to God if they do introduce Bart Allen and say his name is inspired by Bar Torr, I'll murder Johns. And Waid would probably even help me with that.

Oh dear god, this.

>isn't that ridiculously convoluted and coincidental? That Bar Torr just happened to use "Bart Allen" as his alias?

less ridiculous than Wally West having a cousin named Wally West

I'll take Mister Freeze for $200 Alex

honestly there is no point in having bart back when wally jr. fills the young speedster quota.

...

They've been planning that for years now, yet nothings come of it.

Haven't been reading, isnt she a straight up villain now?

Yeah.

Thankfully, in the ongoing, Silk, they seem to be doing damage control.

Beat me to it.

Worse still is that she still sells like hotcakes in her butchered form.

>tfw I read yesterday some Astonishing
>tfw Hank isn't moron and Scott says "you're my oldest friend"
What went wrong?

They could just ignore it.

>since his mom died
His mom never died in the comics.

So I didn't read TT when it first rolled around during the new 52 so my only experience with Barr comes from what I heard on Sup Forums and his brief appearance in the Flash comics (where his appearance amounted to absolutely nothing)
But what is the deal with him now? Did he go back to the future or something?

Kon-el is probably the most fucked.

His Post-Flashpoint version is effectively dead.

Pre-Flashpoint Kon is nowhere to be seen, but is possibly either

>A: Post-Flashpoint Superman himself

>B: Current "powerless" ""Clark Kent"" that's appeared in Action Comics.

>C: Got completely Doctor Manhattan'd

For now, Kon has effectively been wiped out. If he doesn't come back sometime in rebirth, then he's probably gonna be genuinely replaced by Jon Kent as being the new Superboy, kinda like how Bart's been replaced by Black Wally as Kid Flash.

Man, I really feel sorry for the Kon-El fans.

>Man, I really feel sorry for the Kon-El fans.

Don't be. I haven't given a shit about him since the 90s

This also his friend who got shot was a drug dealer who not only was fucking Frida but gave him the gun to protect himself from F-stop

Also the gay friend who his cartoon friend was based on, shot and killed F-stop (who by then was a full-on Stormfront user) during a riot and didn't get arrested for it thanks to the cops.

Moon Knight has experienced the opposite desu senpai

His ANAD and NOW runs are some of the best he's ever had.

I wonder how McDuffie would feel about the state of comics today...

...

This, to be honest.
Amethyst could be DC's great "girls book" if they had rebites it properly and went for an all ages Basara meets Game of Thrones style thing, but they kind of fucked it up like most character reintroductions in the new-52.

You're forgetting that there's also a monumental difference between 90s Reign of the Superman Superboy and Geoff Johns' Teen Titans Superboy. Might as well be two different characters.

Yea right. They still get bitched for it. See the ultimates and night hawk.

I don't know about DC but its a lose if you do and lose if you don't situation for using non white male characters. Marvel just pushes it to the extreme.

The problem with Bart is not only is he fucked, he's double fucked because the spot he usually takes up (youngest speedster on the block) has now been occupied by Black Wally.

They can't EVER get rid of Black Wally for fear of racism (which is the only reason I think Iris II has a chance of coming back -- minority girl) and he's taking up Bart's Teen Titans slot and the sidekick slot in The Flash.

Turning Bart into a Legion character is just admitting defeat and really missing out on the best parts of Bart.

The deal with him is, when they kicked off the New 52, they didn't want to commit to any of the standard relationships. No Superman Lois. No Barry Iris.

Without Barry and Iris being a confirmed thing you can't have the "real" Bart Allen. His birth is literally predicated on them going to the future and popping out some kids, who then have their own kids.

If Bart Allen, the real one, ever shows up then DC is committing to something they didn't want (atleast not yet). So Bart will forever be on the back burner until Barry and Iris atleast get married.

:(

She needs Clint back in her life.

From circus smartass and heart of the Avengers with flare to le regular guy living in an apartment in normal clothes who stands with occupiers.

Never understood why people enjoyed Fraction's normal guy crap. It's like Bendis's Jessica Jones on the toilet and Avengers eating in the kitchen crap.

Literally unsalvageable after what Morrison and Winick have done to her.

I wish they just retconned Damian out of existence. He's ruined that whole family for me.

> stuck on a b-list team
> black sidekick in mainstream media
> demoted to guest star status in his own damn book

he deserved so much better :(

for some reason picture didn't show up

There's just nothing there any more.

Solstice got it worse.

So much worse . . .

So screwed.

If you ask me, Damian is probably the best thing Talia made for Bruce in years.

Well, of course. She's a Marvel character who uses her sexuality as a weapon, and she's white.

My dad brought home a Hawkguy trade from the library recently thinking I'd like to read it. I didn't have the heart to tell him.

Just a pony tail with a sythe. That's all there is left.

Your mother.

I just read Rann Thanagar War the other day for Countdown. Holy shit was that a fucking terrible book. Not even Kyle Rayner could save it.

they undid that shitty design and then they redid it
it must be an editor that loves the shivasaurus

Dunno. Weapomized ponytails are actually good.

40K's Lelith also has this and it counts as a CQC weapon.

Fuck this. This was a team of young heroes that was really interesting, and they just went fuck en. 2 of them are now dead. 1 is depower. And I don't know what happened to the rest. Someone needs to fix this fast

When the fuck has Kyle Rayner ever saved anything in the first place?

Definitely wasn't when his girlfriend needed him most.

It's not even the weapon or the design, it's the character. She's been hollowed out of everything that made her interesting and compelling and turned into a mid-tier League of Assassins miniboss at best and an ineffectual punchbag at worst, and usually both. Her motivations are retarded and she hasn't had a single good line of dialogue in almost ten years. She tries to rationalize herself by saying tobacco companies kill more people than her and has some vague non-specified "debt" with the League that she whines about instead of just fucking leaving. Shit, her New52 debut was literally as a fill-in two-issue arc. And the best thing she's been in lately is DC Superhero Girls.

OK, now you've got me here.

Pretty much.

Rather than getting pissed that Peter punched her in the face, she's pissed that she was trying to retire from the lifestyle and they just dragged her back in.

It was a breath of fresh air at the time.

Eh, AA kinda lost steam once it entered the Fear Itself stuff.

The whole n52 run was a slow character assassination for him with added insanity(because we've never seen that before). And his various Convergence appearances were pathetic, especially the one in Blue Beetle where the writer apparently thought he was a robot.

And I would say that the Retroboot in general was a huge disservice to the whole team, because suddenly they were buried under decades of continuity and many reboot/threeboot fans were alienated by the sudden change of status quo. It also didn't help that this took place just a little while before Flashpoint so that all potential new readers were also treated to a messy piece of continuity porn instead of the pretty cool book it can be.

the worst part is that he wouldn't fucking shut up about how he shot him for months

>Kon-El fans
What are you, 60?

She basically had the crazy evil purged out of her during Damian's solo

I'm trying so hard to make some sense of that pose.

I don't understand the question

This. So much.

How long has it been since he was somewhat relevant?

Aaron and Fraction. Aaron and Fraction happened. Bendis may take all the flack for a lot of the shit from 13 onwards but Fraction was the one who started Hank's fall, while Aaron was the one who laid the foundation for Hank turning into the piece of shit that he was.

Static? I think when he showed up in TT.

nah.
slutty Harley is fine
