What are commieblocks like in your country?
In Finland most commieblocks are less than 10 stories high. They are clean and well maintained yet they suffer from mold problems and have poor heat and sound insulation. Most of them were build in the 1960s and 1970s.

Because it's objectively superior to American style suburbs. Takes less space = more space for good things like parks and it's cheaper which makes the state stronger. They also look more aesthetic than h*uses

I don't really consider the finnish ones commieblocks. Nordic ones are much more managable in size and are usually more maintained. They don't have the same dystopian look. And before someones mentions, I have spent time in moscow and spb drinking vodka in post-apocalyptic commieblocks. I think a better word for the Nordic ones would be socdemblock.

The most common ones are 5 stories high, 3 flats per landing, and they can connect as many "segments" as needed, but usually are between 2 and 5 segments large. Standard flat sizes are ~30, ~50, ~64 and ~75 square meters, for 1, 2, 3 and 4 room flats respectively. Usually there's also a balcony, or two for larger flats.
They're OK if maintained properly, mold is only a problem in poorly maintained ones, with no ventilation.
