IDK, I never saw more than half month's pay times two when I was in the Navy and double reductions in rank were rare (and usually only happened to frocked sailors). I think you mean the Marines are exceptionally harsh. However, If you go to the brig in the Navy, bread and water is still a punishment.

well its usually 45 days in the marines of half-pay. What he didnt mention was restriction which is gay as fuck. The punishment is anterograde too so he probably didnt lose the combat-pay or anything
