Sitio do Picapáu Amarelo

In homage to the Rio Olympics, here's a Sitio do Picapáu Amarelo thread.

You can watch episode of this on Kisscartoon, subbed in English. Translated it means "the Yellow Woodpecker Farm. Its a Brazilian cartoon based on a children's novel series written by Monteiro Lobato.

This cartoon is just hilarious. Emilia the doll is just so adorable, her facial expressions are just priceless. This cartoon is basically about Narizinho, Pedrinho, and Emilia going on silly adventures together and about life on the farm.

This is a fun cartoon to watch, its bright, colorful, cute, and shows off a lot of things about Brazilian culture that I didn't know about before.

>Watching this trash.

Is there full frontal nudity? Because I've seen Cebolinha's penis and the Menino Maluquinho's penis and I expect nothing less from Brazilian Sup Forums than bare little boy penises.

Along wiht Loud House, Ruby Gloom, Star VS, Steven Universe and all the other cancerous crap.

What do you consider to be a decent cartoon?

No its a kid's show, there's no nudity in it whatsoever. Cuca the dragon is always naked. The kids do have a few swimsuit episodes.

Jorel's brother >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> this shit

Time to HUE

OH NOOO! Someone posted a link, now we have to move even without any rule telling that... Go fuck yourself

True

Something drawn better like Avatar IDK.

Stop shilling your show

>not posting the subbers blogspot with tbe dl links
I can't remember the exact url, something like sdpa-sub or similar.

That being said, I liked this despite the first episode feeling like you got thrown into the middle of a story with no backgrounds or anything for the characters.

Emilia is wonderfully bratty and a goldmine for smug faces, if one can be assed to screenshot and crop, and the loli is cute.

Cuca and tornadonigger are worst characters.

that shit has no right to be as good as it is.

As a brazillian profissional animator, I say that its a great time to work on the industry here and its great that ours is developing.

Niggas at studios are literally throwing money at you. Jorel's Brother has better animation and squash and strench than all other CN shows right now.

Looks like crap to me as well, I bet is flash to.

>that doll

It isn't, animation is better than SU and current Regular Show.

Maybe it is Toonboom, its the most common software by animators here, but looks that it is made frame by frame when you see in motion, so I might be wrong.

Jesus. Anybody got the rest of this?

Oh boy I remember watching an older, live-action adaptation in Portuguese class.
I remember it involving the girl going into an underwater palace with spiders that sang a musical number.
At some point fucking Popeye of all people shows up, played by (as my classroom speculated) Chayanne, or someone that really looked like him; and he turned out to be a bad guy?
Also Saci Pereré (for those who don't know, a Brazilian folklore/mythological creature that's pretty much a black kid with one foot that travels around in a whirlwind like Link in Zelda 1 and smokes a pipe) was a prominent character.
Yeah.

Then again I'm Argentine and we came up with fucking Dibu so I can't judge.

IT is just Raggedy Ann, Dibu is bad thouhgt because It promoted Incest, interracial gay boyu rape and Satanism.

There needs to be more episodes with english subs.

The subber's name is Boneco. You have to sign up for the Kametsu link. Here's the Mega with all the episodes for download.

Who's this butterfaced semen demon? The reason why Brazil's animation industry is flourishing is because of a law requiring children's programming be made.

This cartoon is popular across the Latin American world. It could become popular in the US too. I like how I learned a few things about Brazilian culture from watching this show. I didn't know who Saci was, I didn't know what peteca or goiabada was.

Emilia's facial expressions are hilarious, I love looking at her faces. They do explain Emilia's origin in a later episode in season 1.

It's a maternity book that no one can find anymore.

Emilia does not now, nor will she ever have enough porn. I could never be satiated.

Lara from Jorel's Brother.

Closest thing that Brazil have to Flapjack.

And yes, pretty much because every Channel is forced to have token brazillian shows. Which obviously mean that 90% is shit like on Canada. We have two or three good animated shows.

There will never be enough.

America still has a similar law in place. And the law is what sparked a lot of the good cartoons of the 90's like Disney's Afternoon and cartoons on FOX and WB.

But there are no public broadcasting Saturday morning cartoons other than Qubo and a few cartoons on PBS kids. Its all live action stuff now. Cable TV and video streaming is what ended Saturday morning cartoons on public broadcasting. Vortexx- which aired shows like Sonic X, Yu-Gi-Oh, DBZ, Bolts and Blip, and Spiderman ended on September 27, 2014- and was replaced by One Magnificent Morning- a lineup of mostly live action shows about animals.

Its sad that as a kid I got a choice of cartoons to watch after school, before school, and on Saturday mornings. These days poor kids without cable won't get cartoons other than Qubo and a few shows on PBS Kids.

...

>Kametsu
lolno.
I found the blogspot and it was indeed sdpasub.

Turns out he has subbed 8 episodes from season 3 since I watched it. I'm going to bookmark it and binge season 3 when he's done with it.

I'm pondering why all the uploads are tagged as [temp] though. Maybe he used tv rips and plan to redo when/if web-dl is available.

>At some point fucking Popeye of all people shows up, played by (as my classroom speculated) Chayanne, or someone that really looked like him; and he turned out to be a bad guy?

I remember that from one of the books. Yeah, for some reason, Lobato portrayed Popeye as a bad guy in the story.

They did the same thing with Felix the Cat by portraying him as a villain too, though it was revealed that it was another cat posing as Felix in a later book.

What a queer

what the hell is this?

a brazilian cartoon

Wait, there's more? Is Picapáu Amarelo secretly a Pooh's Adventures-ish fan fiction?
Why are folklore creatures and evil versions of public domain characters running around in this children's story?
This is more like Turkish Spiderman now that I think about it.

I don't know user

You tell me what you see

Peter Pan is a major early character in the book. Tinkerbell's fairy dust is one of the main resources Emília had during the book and TV series.

Monteiro Lobato didn't had much originality. So the kids hang out with folklore evil creatures (that in the book are good) and have a never explayed magic ability to travel through books

Is also never explayed how the doll and the corn puppet came to life, so i guess it is only children imagination and shit

Hue here, while the Animation is really cute I can't really find it much appealing, probably because of the kid humor.

Literal "make-believe". In the newest TV Series, that's how the Viscount gained life.

Emília could basically "make-believe" anything to happen.

He got big after Aunt Anastácia dropped some yeast on him at a later date.

So why they even had problems in the first place?
