Homeless people

While I was walking to work the other day, an old woman came up to me and asked for two dollars. She said she hadn't eaten in two days. I felt bad so I gave her 10 dollars instead. Did I handle the situation correctly?

>pic unrelated

No.

Nope.
NEVER give money to the homeless. Offer to buy them food if they ask for food. You'll see how they'll turn you down, they just want money for booze or drugs.

Or give them straight away booze. A friend of mine left me some liquor that was honestly so shitty even he wouldn't drink it, Gave it to an homeless and made his day.

But she said she hadn't eaten for two whole days. What was I supposed to do?

Tell her to stay right there, Buy her some bread (And jelly if you feel nice) And give it.

She used it to buy Heroin.

She probably ate two hours ago. Unless they are visibly bony, they are getting food at the homeless shelter. You took the bait.

Used to be homeless. Dunno what the situation is like in your city, but you might have screwed up. Most people who opt for begging instead of helping themselves or finding a charity are a red flag.

You did mention she was old, though, so calling 211 and asking them what to do probably would've been more beneficial for her.

Fuck no you just bought her some booze. Never give anything to beggars there's plenty of homeless shelters and they need volunteers if you actually want to help.

Giving money to the homeless is the single worst thing you can do

There's worst user.

Giving money to homeless niggers.

I live in Portland and I say that you should have set her on fire.

I live in Eugene and I agree

They get free gibs from the government and free food from shelters, missions, and churches.
You bought her dose of smack for the night, congrats.

I live right by the springwater. The whole place needs to be cleansed in hellfire so I can go back to enjoying the good parts about this city. Fuck every last one of those hobos to death.

Offer to walk into a fast food place and buy them a sandwich next time. If they say no, then you just say sorry.

I had a woman come up to me one time asking for money in DC. She said it was for her hungry kid. I said I would run into the local store and buy some bread. Her response: "She don't eat no bread." The kid crossed her arms and gave me a frowny face.

Don't listen to the other Sup Forums folks, you are doing no wrong by getting someone a snack.

good advice

I live in Berkeley and I agree

Buy her food and water but she enjoyed the night on meth

When I was homeless/living in my car I took the money I got flying sign and used it to buy 16ga galvanized wire... for making chainmail... I had a mandrel and everything in my trunk.

If they are begging for cash in a major metro area they turned down help and they can fuck off

Should have made her do push-ups. I have this game I play with our city's homeless where I say I'll give them a dollar if they can get ten push-ups in a row. They do the ten no problem and then I sweeten the deal $20 for 100 in a row no stopping. The stupid fucks always go for it because they hear $20 on the line. They normally can't make it to 100 mostly 45-50 which means no money for them. Or if I'm in a hurry I just leave them there pushing and go on my way.
I tell you the looks on their faces when they work up a sweat for that $20 only to have it snatched away from them and them not being able to do anything about it easily better than sex

I used to go to college in a major US city. Before I went, my older cousin who works downtown warned me that most homeless people work in networks. One might ask for a dollar, and if you give it to him, they will remember your face, what direction you were walking, time of day, group of people, etc. If you are spotted again, next time maybe 2 or 3 people will bother you about money with a sob story.

What you do is ignore them. Once they recognize you and see you won't give them the time of day, you're good. I walked the same route daily when I went to college. Passed by many homeless, who designate territories among the streets. They learned quickly I wasn't going to give them shit. The day I had an out-of-towner friend come with me on my walk, we were swarmed, by many of the same faces that never bothered me before. They knew me, saw I had an unfamiliar face, and tried to play their game. Don't fall for it.

I live in Santa Cruz, and I agree.

A street rat lied to you? Stop the fucking presses.

>see syrian mom (milfish) with daughter under bridge
>they look dirty and messy
>woman with a shameful face comes to me and says "lira lira" looking down
>i give her a look then point at my dick
>she shakes head as to say no and i go my way
>she yells after me and a tear falls on her face as she nods yes
>picked up her tears with tip of dicc and fed it to her
>mfw the kids horrified and sad face

no, you should have givin her actual food, or water

I live in San Francisco in the tenderloin (nigger central of the town). I totally ignore the homeless and have never gave a dollar to anyone.

Now the homeless dont even bother asking me for money. If I gave money I would be hit up by 10 people everytime I leave my house to go to work.

I live in SoCal and there are homeless people everywhere

Just today I was outside at panda express eating orange chicken and rice. I was halfway done and before I could even look up an old woman came up to me and asked me if she could have any. I always freeze in these situations because I don't want to be an asshole, so I told her she could have the rest and that I was done anyway. I wasn't actually done, the plate (5 pieces of chicken and rice) was still good, but I could tell she needed it.

I was kind of annoyed because she wasn't even grateful, didn't even say thank you, just took it from me when I handed it to her and walked away stuffing her face. I have to imagine she was really, really hungry.

Hope it helped, rice is pretty filling so she should be good for a couple days.

I went to college at USB and lived in Isla Vista, one thing I learned about homeless people, don't fucking with them when it comes to them getting money or booze, they have little reason to not beat your ass.

I was homeless and lived in my car for a month in San Francisco (long story) but I had a job and continued going to it and got a membership at a 24 hour gym to shower etc

Anyway what I'm getting at is I met a lot of homeless people at the usual watering holes (library computer lines, 24 hour gym late at night, mall bathrooms when the mall is open but an hour before any store open, park showers, ect wtc). They all also had jobs and looked normal. But they told me this:

A true homeless person would never ask you for money. If someone on the street askes you for money 99% of the time it's for two reasons: they have a drug or alcohol problem that you will be financing if you give them money, or they actually live in a house somewhere and act "homeless" as their day job. Ever since then I don't give a homeless person money ever.

Keep going

>pull it out and bust on her face
>i call the kid closer and make licking motion as to instructing him to lick
>he looks disgusted
>mom looks at me angry
>i look at her angry and show her 20 liras
>another tear rolls her cheek and she tells kids smth in arabic then the kid licks it up
>i pull my zipper and tell her "that was his food, you're welcome"
>i leave while both kid and mom cry

Fuck you. Way to reward it for doing nothing.

>act "homeless" as their day job
Fucking this. The amount of "professional" homeless people is staggering. I've seen the same people sit on the same corner or near the same tree or on the same bench for years. There was a guy that sat leaning against a mailbox across the street from where I used to work in downtown SC. I saw him there everyday I worked for over three years. Hell, by the amount of people that threw him change, he probably made more than I did in a day.

She's homeless for a reason. If she wanted food, she would go to a soup kitchen.

>protip: she didn't because she wants money for drugs/booze

what you did incorrectly is think someone cares about your meaningless life

I live in Austin and there's 3 types of homeless:
1. Genuinely down on luck (the minority)
2. Drug problems (a lot)
3. Professionals (Plenty)
I see so many #3s leave their posts and pull out modern cell phones or ipads. A few actually get into decent cars and drive away.

Does anyone else secretly want the purge to occur for a few years just to eliminate the homeless?

Been homeless multiple times in my life. Shouldn't have helped her. It's no different than feeding pests.

do i want an arbitrary excuse to murder other humans and revel in my sadistic hateful urges?

no, nope.

Did you park your car on the street or pay for covered parking?
If it was on the street how many broken windows did you get?

Nothing quite like seeing a hobo pull out a smartphone. Kinda shatters you ability to pity their kind anymore.

Not really, seems like a waste of time and tax dollars. Now, being able to get a hunting license just like for any other varmint, that I can get behind.

Ayy fellow 831. Never thought I'd see someone from here on Sup Forums.
Fuck the tweakers here.

Oh man, this is one of my biggest pet peeves. I used to volunteer with the homeless for like six years and you know what I learned from it? Never trust those people. Never give anything to them. They don't appreciate it, and are only nice if they think they can get more handouts from you.
What I learned from interacting with the poor is this, no one is worse than the poor. They are selfish, they're immoral, they're hateful and angry. They're drug addicts. They're rapists. They're murderers and the most miserly people of all. If there was a poor person in need and another poor person could help them, they wouldn't. Yeah I know this sounds like some r9k spergism, but my work with these people has left me bitter.
In fact, you know who will always help people in need? The well off, the wealthy, the rich. I've never been well off myself, but the ones who always had an open hand (without me even asking) were the people with money. They understand work and effort and can recognize when someone is suffering from bad decisions and when someone is suffering from hard times. They will help when they can, because they were responsible with their lives and did the right things: staying away from drugs, working at a job and doing their best at it, not leading promiscuous lifestyles, etc, all the things that everyone knows (but bleeding hearts and BLMs) ruins lives.
I'm still lower income myself but if I learned anything in life it's this, fuck the poor.

You know exactly what I'm talking about. Pacific Ave is infested, and the cops don't do shit. That's probably the worst thing, the cops just don't care at all.

My friend and I got jumped by a hobo in the parking lot of a bank on a Sunday afternoon (the Comerica on Front st). I held him on the ground (knee in the back) while my friend called the cops. When they got there, they yelled at me to get off him, and when I was asked if I was going to press charges, the cop ROLLED HER FUCKING EYES AT ME when I said yes. And then they let the fucker go. Free to assault more citizens.

This.

Wish I could buy you a meal right now, Venezuelan.
