Rushmore is on HBO

>Rushmore is on HBO
>I've never seen it before
>decide to stream it
>the movie starts
>I enjoy the first four minutes
>then the opening montage starts with Jason Schwartzman in all his clubs and stuff
>something isn't right
>why is he on the side of the frame, with half of his body cut off?
>then it hits me
>HBO is streaming a pan and scanned version of the movie for morons who insist the movie fill their entire screen

What the fuck? It's literally the current year, how are people okay with this? I'm thinking about canceling HBO now. This is unacceptable for any movie, but especially a Wes Anderson one, where it's super obvious that they're doing it. Does Showtime pull this bullshit?

That is bizarre. I haven't encountered that in years.

DUDE BILL MURRAY LMAO

I was shocked too. I don't think Netflix and Amazon ever do that anymore. Hulu probably doesn't either, though I know they do show the stupid zoomed in widescreen versions of Seinfeld, but that's just what they were given by the studio, it's not their fault.

We should start a letter writing campaign. This is not acceptable.

Look at this shit.

How is this allowed?

...

>HBO is streaming a pan and scanned version of the movie
that's fucking disgusting

I couldn't even continue watching. I subscribe to HBO through Amazon, but I've now removed all HBO movies from my watchlist. Like I say, I might unsubscribe. $15 a month is way too much to pay for pan and scanned movies.

Offensive

I bet you enjoy the films of Wes Anderson.

Pan and scan in this day in age is a fucking sin for cinema. It's not suppose to be in 16x9 unless it was film/recorded in 16x9.

I thought everyone understood this in fucking 2017. I couldn't believe it.

>netflix will never stop cropping panoramic picture to 16:9 normievision
Stop giving these people money.

I don't think Netflix does this. At least not anymore.

>2017
>pan and scan
For what fucking purpose

>DURR, I GOT A WIDESCREEN TV. WHY MOOBIE NOT FILL UP SCREEN NOW?

dont bully apu

nope, not everyone knows this.

hit the nail on the head

not anymore he doesn't lmao

wes anderson!
why can't his movies fill up my entire screen?!
