Why does Reddit hate this guy so much? He was a great villain. Season 5 was bad but he made it watchable.

DUDE STOIC NIGGER LMAO
My only problem with him was that he wasn't as charismatic as either joe or stringer bell
MY MEME IS MY MEME
He too real
That scene where he executed that honey trap slut was probably the best moment of the series, so he has that. He was a weird autistic dude.
reddit love black people with "they're just like us!" qualities, like prop joe and avon with their family shit, or stringer with his books. marlo was just a straight up nigger who denied them any humanity.
Yeah, Sup Forums should stop hating him
Marlo was great. I like that they didn't just try to make him Stringer 2.0, he's the complete opposite of Stringer and much more ruthless.
Stringer is still more interesting but it was a good change of pace.
> You think it's one way, but it's the other way.
The other characters were products of their environment. Marlo made his environment a product of him.
Yeah Chris felt way more serious and intimidating. Marlo just seemed... weird. I think it was the way he spoke with his teeth clenched shut. Not sure if they intended to make him look and sound like a little kid, but he didn't come across as that much older than Michael.
Oh my gosh, he was simply wonderful. One of the greatest villains of all time, in the BEST television show of all time.
he's supreme nigger that made everything around him more niggertastic?
I think that was part of it. He's not ruthless in the same way Chris is where he can do it as a job and then separate himself from it, because Chris isn't ruthless for fun, he just kills to get paid. Marlo is just ruthless because that's the way he is and he enjoys bullying people, like in this scene:

So he's not really like Avon in that he doesn't have the experience and he's not really like Stringer in that he doesn't have the business acumen. He doesn't really see value in sharing the corners with anybody else, he just takes and takes and creates more and more chaos, and he doesn't really seem to have a lot of strategy beyond muscling everybody else out.
This is sort of shown in his last scene, when the guy tries to introduce him to a bunch of other legitimate businessmen, and the first thing he does is leave and try to go back to what he had.
youtube.com
Because he isn't a businessman, he just likes to take shit and be known for it. The irony is that the guys he beats up are still talking about Omar and everybody forgets Marlo like a week after he goes to prison.
get this moolie OUTTA HEEERRRRREEEEE
Marlo is the least comic book villian out of the bunch. Why he wasn't a good villian made him the most realistic villian of the bunch. He wasn't this great enemy that needed to be taken down. He was a kid who gained too much power and acted like it through and through
"Redditors want it to be one way.. but it's the other way.."
>tfw can't relax around that black
>everybody forgets Marlo like a week after he goes to prison.
I doubt anyone forgot about him. He had the entire city's drug trade under his thumb.
Agreed, esp on that last part. Who knew that even the drug trade could suffer from institutional decay and plummet far lower than what it used to be.
That's the point of his last scene though, power transfers quickly on the streets. The guys on a corner he owned like a week before that didn't even know who he was.
I think the only person who felt straight up comic book in the entire show was Brother Mouzone. The other characters just had ticks and idiosyncracies that set them apart from the rest of the cast. It just worked somehow. And who knows maybe there's actually weirdos like Brother Mouzone in that Brotherhood of Islam group that they mention. I wouldn't know anything about them so can't be certain either way. But yeah most charcaters felt real to me.
Not just that they weren't even afraid to pull a gun on him. To them he looked like a goddamn clown in that ridiculous suit. No one's going to be telling tales about him to the younger kids in Baltimore. They'd talk about Omar.
It's foolish even calling him a "villain" as if the simplicity of our current formulaic TV shows would apply to a unique show such as The Wire.
Marlo is a result of the long running narrative of the season to season cycle of Baltimores evolution. He just shows that each generation gets more and more violent as a new king steps up.
>The guys on a corner he owned like a week before that didn't even know who he was.
They know who Marlo is, they just probably never met him in person, or simply didn't recognize him walking up to them in a fucking suit at midnight or whenever that scene took place. To make the assumption that they would know his face to begin with is quite a stretch. If he said his name the confrontation probably would have gone down a lot differently.
Kenard burning that cat with lighter fuel was some next level shit
Sociopaths don't make for compelling drama
>That's the point of his last scene though, power transfers quickly on the streets.
The point of his last scene is to show how he can't escape the streets, as it's the only thing he knows.
Season 5 was great. Watch it again when you grow up.
it can show more than one thing
It was rushed. Needed another episode or two to improve pacing and flesh out some plot lines.
Indeed, but that is the predominant one. Also, those are some literally who hustlers on the street. Just because they didn't recognize Marlo by his face doesn't say much.
Why on earth would you want to watch a show about niggers nigging (with them being portrayed in the best light that can be given too)? Polacks nigging too with the 2nd.
Unless you have a nigger festish, then move along.
We speak English here Ahmed.
>and he enjoys bullying people
he enjoys having power, but I wouldn't say that he enjoys bullying more than any other "tough" guy, he's just threatening bodie here
>youtu.be
his first appearance describes his self-centered character and lack of morality pretty well with "Do it or don't, but I got some place to be"
baltimore broke it's homicide record this year. it's like a mini liberia in america. I don't know how anyone could watch the wire and not get depressed.
Baltimore is easily the worst shit hole in the United States. At least Detroit is relatively depopulated at this point.
Baltimore is jam packed with nogs nogging.
doesn't baltimore have Johns Hopkins though? Can't be ashithole if they have one of the best medical universities in the country. tenderloins are fucking hell though I'll give ya that
marlo is a more believable character than stringer bell.
>doesn't baltimore have Johns Hopkins though?
Baltimore turned to shit *around* Johns Hopkins. It's not like they could just pick up the fucking college and move it elsewhere.
