Yes, obviously American space shuttles, unlike Soyuz or Apolo, arguably more important in historic terms, they actually look like what most people picture as spacecraft and Buran was basically a meme. Having said that the images of them exploding are also well embedded into the collective psyche so it isn't like their iconic status is mostly positive associations.
