What are the best Golden Age Mermaid Man stories?
I'd like to know where to start with him.

Batman The Brave and The Bold
>What are the best Golden Age Mermaid Man stories
>Golden Age Mermaid Man stories
>Golden Age
Mermaid Man is silver age, you fucking casual.
>not realizing that Mermaid Man was a minor character in several Golden Age runs
>not realizing fan popularity is what made Mermaid Man a silver age sensation in the first place
How fucking new can you be?
Jesus christ SpongeBob was such a masterpiece.
Mermaid Man #14 (1951), also Man Ray has his first appearance on this title
Is that the one about Man Ray's boner?
I don't get why they made Barnacle Boy's so big in later runs
>Implying that being a minor character in a story means that it's the minor characters story
Are you fucking serious right now? The OP asked for Golden Age Mermaid Man stories, but he was nothing more but a minor character at worst and a memorable one at best! But that doesn't make the stories he appeared in his! Therefore Mermaid Man has no golden age stories! Therefore you and OP are DOUBLE BARNACLES!
SHUT UP! THERE IS NO GOLDEN AGE MERMAID MAN!
It was just a small part of it, remember that Man Ray started as a noble citizen trying to help his friend Mermaid Man, then his ego turned him evil.
I'm glad they finally turned him good again in more recent issues
Me too user, it seems that Mermaid Man's death had a great impact on him.
Fucking hate how they cast Jared Leto as Man-Ray in Submersible Squad.
Well that depends on the consensus of what you consider to be the last issues of the Golden Age. Most people disagreed when Barnacle Boy tried to rise to the mantle after The Dirty Bubble (the Second one, IMO the true Dirty Bubble) "seemingly" ended Mermaid Man.
I was satisfied with the resolution of that arc, but the rest of the story wasn't to my taste.
Are you talking about before or after he became Davey Jones?
Why was there such a sudden shift in tone in the 80's Round 85', MM got kinda edgy, started when he just flat out popped Dirty Bubble, not to mention the story where Manta Ray beat and molested Barnacle Boy. I also remember alot of drug references and weird cold war metaphors.
Maybe read actual comics, faggot.
>Still implying there was ever a golden age Mermaid Man
For what porpoise? Why are you supporting OP's delusions? Or do you all share the same delusions? Like a shared psychosis, perhaps?
Wasn't Wesley Skate, who appeared 3 issues prior rumored to be Man Ray? Supposedly there was going to be a reveal, but the writer left (read Fired) over "creative differences)
>he doesn't remember the Earth-2 Mermaidman, who punched Hideki Tojo in the face
Earth-2 Mermaidman was a motherfucker.
Is the 1985 Crimson Chin crossover worth reading?
>Earth-2 Mermaidman was a motherfucker
Literally, If I remember correctly. They left it up to the audience to decide if he was the Father
Skip it, any 80's Crimson Chin is trash. Look for the Mermaid Man crossovers if you must, but just start in the 60's and skip straight to the '93 Ultimate Crisis Showdown.
Don't get me stared on the AIDS awareness issues, my mom was not happy that they passed those out at my brother school
Remember the Alan Moore run where Mermaid Man became infected by coral and started talking about how much it proved his sex life through lyrical poetry?
H2Olga was the best thing to come out of those Issues
>he deludes himself into thinking there was ever a golden age Mermaid Man from earth-2 who punched Hideki Tojo
You're a delusional motherfucker.
>Literally, If I remember correctly
You don't. You delude yourself wrongly.
It's only a legend but we have drafts and sketches so it's 50/50
Who's run on Mermaid Man was better Grant Morrison, Alan Moore, or Garth Ennis?
Alan Moore
Garth Ennis, no doubt.
Morrison's run was neat and I appreciated how he unofficially tied up all his loose ends in Seaguy, but Ennis and his Dolphin Rape Caves arc was intense. I'll never look at Barnacle Boy's anus the same way again.
How could you not like Miller's Chin run? It's way better then what ever the fuck they're doing now.
Read his solo books. Barnacle Boy was just to get the toy industry hooked.
I'm more of a fan of Jim Starlin's Ultra Lord mini. It really fleshed out his character. It up with Kirby's original.
alright, ultimatum time, who is Mermaid Man's true arch nemesis?
Dirty Bubble, Man Ray, or Prawn?
yes, I know Prawn only appeared in Mermaid Man: Shhh, but I really consider him Mermaid Man's ultimate antithesis, and most diabolical and interesting foe. His arc was a masterpiece
Thoughts on the upcoming movie?
They're trying to make it start a cinematic universe
Prawn. Though they really messed up the adaptation of The Frying Shrimp with the added bits with Miss Appear.
>Man Ray
He's the core of his character, the reason behind MM
Dirty Bubble is just played for laughs these days. I miss when he was actually menacing.
But dude...swearing!
He really hasn't been threatening since the Cancun Arc.
I hate it, see
>Golden Age stories
>any good
Literally the only superhero with a Golden Age run worth reading is the Elastic Waistband. Everything else is outdated, formulaic trash.
Guys when is the real Crash Nebula coming back? The current kid Nebula sucks?
>that time when Man Ray killed Barnacle Boy II.
>that time he revealed he was raped by pie pirates and Mermaid Man never came to help him.
Didn't like Invisible Woman design tho.
Skip everything prior 64', and go all the round until de issue 273 (May 87') . From the new run Start at issu 67 (noy 93') and then go until you get bored.
Avoid the reprints, new coloring kill the mood.
This user knows
tbf that arc with elastic waistband being on his death bed was pretty well written. Gave a dose of realism to a comic where most of the characters were ridiculous caricatures. The idea of a superhero being defeated by disease rather than a super villain was a rather thought provoking at the time.
The Quikster formulaic... LoL
Please bait harder
At least it's better than that run where it turns out Crash can't fuck his new alien gf so they start an open relationship, and Crash has to watch his girlfriend make out with her own girlfriend.
The Quickster didn't get really good until his Silver Age revamp, everything before was boring as fuck. I know people are nostalgic for the Golden Age Quickster but c'mon.
Still sounds better then Chin V. Nebula Dawn of Justice.
Chuck Dixon's crossover with the Ambiguously Gay Duo remains one of the most entertaining and game-changing series of all time.
How could you not enjoy when Gary rides Mermaid Man in order to save Ace and Barnacle Boy from Bighead and Man-Ray? Or when the Duocar smashed through the cracks to break into the dark cave?
I disagree. Captain Magma's Golden Age run was GOAT
Fuck off, Sup Forums. Go whine about the Power Pals movie being too quippy or some garbage like that in your board.
It was pure gold
Just picked up a collected edition of Alan Moore's Hoss Delgado.
Shit is soooo dank
So what's everyone's opinion on Miller's Naked Lad run?
>that ugly as fuck art in the new miss appear comic
it hurts.
Why was the most recent Mermaidman movie such edgy shit? I hope Snyder doesn't ruin The International Justice League of Super Acquaintances.
I only like his mid '90s modern work.
Are the Killer Shrimp and the Jumbo Shrimp meant to be the same villain?
Still not as bad as the New Captain Magma
Jumbo Shrimp is Killer Shrimp from Earth 2.
What's your opinion on Leto's portrayal of Man Ray in the Evil Squad movie?
It's shit.
...
>DOUBLE BARNACLES
rekt
saved
No fun allowed, huh?.
who's the best writer for Mermaid Man
I'd say Jay Lender's run was pretty good
Gion Jeffs' Mermaid Man is casual SHIT.
I thought it was Professor Magma?
I haven't been keeping up with it much nowadays. Didn't the Atomic Flounder kill him?
The Dirty Bubble solo series when?
