See, but with you, it's clear that design/gameplay/features trump social issues being shoehorned into things like games. You come off as someone who, if given control of a game's design, you'd focus on the whole purpose of a game, being entertaining with social issues being very low on the list.

Contrast with people who complain about gender differences in Pokemon, who miss the point of Pokemon being more about fictional animals than the actual trainers themselves and therefore trying to shove human identity politics into animal life.

I mean, I can't say anything about the afterlife because we can't know and probably won't know for hundreds to thousands of years, but maybe he didn't do it for nothing. Maybe he paid the price for the ultimate moment of happiness. Who can say how long it was to him? Or even if he enjoyed the experience. But he's gone and there's no changing that so I can only hope it was worth it in those final moments.
