I tried to hi five Nick and he left me hanging.
Genie didn't leave me hanging.
A Disney CP would never intentionally not high-five you. Must not have seen you clearly through the sweat and fur in their eyes.
Related: I'm doing a phone interview in a couple of days for the College Program (World, not Land) and I would appreciate pointers and stories from anyone here who may have done it themselves. I've researched quite a bit to see the kinds of questions I should expect and I'm not too nervous but I would really like to ace this thing. I know the program's sometimes poked fun at for being indentured servitude but still, I hear it looks very good on resumes and can help a lot with future hiring processes.
I have an idea of why don't do shows in Tokyo anymore, just parades: The park is too damn popular. Not everybody can fit into a show area. A lot more people can fit along the parade route and then everybody gets to see their favorite characters if only for while they pass.
I don't know user, think of the subways I imagine they could cram a lot of people into a show area if they had to.
I heard that the Nick and Judy mascots were gone
is that true?
>Be confident, let them know this is something you want to do for the sake of learning and advancing your future and something you're taking seriously
>Express some of your Disney knowledge
>Use work experience to let them know how you do under pressure and busy circumstances
>Research questions relating to the roles you put high priority under, specifically the top 3 because they -will- ask you about them (like if you picked Attractions, they're gonna ask how you would handle telling people a ride broke down, that their kid is too short, etc.)
>Don't be afraid to show your fun side either, it's Disney, they want people who can smile and enjoy their job even when shit is flying off the fan
Source: just had my phone interview earlier this week
EPCOT. EPCOT a million times.
it's a beautiful mesh of my 3 favorite things: futurism, cultural celebration, and fun ass rides. Sure, it really only has Test Track, but I'll be darned if that thing isn't just so wonderful. Plus, SpaceShip earth is so humbling and thought provoking as well.
The careful thought put into each Showcase, and the pure beauty of the park itself. It's just amazing and one of my favorite places in the world.
I'll never get over the Maelstorm though. Throwing out an exploration of Norweigan folklore for a Frozen cash grab is IMO just despicable. EPCOT is about celebrating our differences, not selling out to the flavor of the month (or decade I guess) movie!
not the OP, but wonderful advice nonetheless
I think they had, and maybe still have, a lottery for seats in the show areas. You go to a machine, tell how many seats you need, insert your ticket and then it will either give you the tickets or not. You can only try once per day per show(?).
I imagine they had that system for the same reason, there would just be doo damn many people in the area otherwise.
Thank you user, solid advice and I'll keep it all in mind. How did yours go? I'm assuming you made it to the next interview (I heard sometimes there are multiples plus an in-person one) ?

I'm at the end of my break right now. I work at Hollywood Studios and used to work at MK
>Have you met smug fox yet?
Yes he was quite smug and all over Judy
I might be going to epcot tomorrow actually
It's the only park I really enjoy anymore
The others have just gotten repetitive/boring but at least at epcot I can drink around the world
>I'll never get over the Maelstorm though. Throwing out an exploration of Norweigan folklore for a Frozen cash grab is IMO just despicable. EPCOT is about celebrating our differences, not selling out to the flavor of the month (or decade I guess) movie!
I have mixed feelings on Maelstrom. I felt like the actual ride was this mess of ideas that were spat together to feel "Norway"-ish but it comes off as incoherent with a lazy "time travel" excuse.
Course, this isn't just an opinion; this is actually what happened when Norwegian company sponsors gave their input on the ride. The original plan was the ride would be entirely themed to trolls and have the Sherman Brothers write a song for it.
It was leaked that before Frozen became a hit, there were plans to re-do Maelstrom to go back to the original concept more, and make the entire ride invaded by trolls. Of course, Frozen happened and the rest is history. I'd love to have seen the new version of Maelstrom happen, but I'm pretty content with Frozen Ever After as an alternative. The new buildings were also researched tastefully based on Norwegian buildings, so it's not like Disney has forgotten that World Showcase is about cultures of the world.
I felt like it went good but I could've been more confident. I always get nervous in interviews. Phone interview is supposed to be the last step before you find out if you got accepted or not, I've never heard of further interviews happening, much less an in-person one. It'd be too much hassle.
I'm gonna drive down there and find you and say mean things while you're working

Get hype for Avatar Land
California Adventure a best nerds
Not even salty about the new Guardians ride
>Favorite Attraction
It will always be a Pirate's life for me
I have never been to Disneyland, seems like something only a kid would enjoy. Can you manchildren tell me how to have a good time around customed workaholics and no friends?
Smile through the phone
Have your top three roles written down and the reasons
Emphasize that you want to learn
Do not say "um" "like" "yea"
If you get stuck pause, gather your thoughts, and move on
Keep your answers short and sweet
Relax
Research some of the classes
Have at least two questions at the end. It shows that you are really interested.
Good luck dude. I'm starting my second program a week from Tuesday.
You will be fucked by the end
Get form of transportation

Right. Because Disney sure is giving all their attention to EPCOT
Don't get me wrong, they're all great rides but nothing most people would sacrifice going to the other parks for. Animal Kingdom gets more traffic.
I'm guessing you mean a new E-ticket then, not an E-ticket period.
Thought I implied that, but yeah pretty much
EPCOT is a beautiful tragedy, and while I don't fault anyone for it being their favorite, I can't say it's my first choice to go to for a park
>Get hype for Avatar Land
Do you actually mean that?
Haunted Mansion is still the best ride
Pirates of the Caribbean needs an update. Either go full movie or go full classic ride. No bullshit in between
Country Bears is a fucking trip
Despite the movie being forgettable, the detail being put into the Land looks great.
Quads wasted
The fuck would you want an Avatar Land for when you've got Star Wars Land?
Genie gives you what you wish for
I guess. And if anyone can bring such a bland movie back into the public consciousness it's Disney.
But at they same time they're working on Star Wars Land, and that looks to be finished sooner than Avatar land does.
Star Wars Land is going to be similar to Avatar Land. They're both only going to have two rides when they open.
Yeah but people care about Star Wars
Was just there this week and they were still there. They only appear during that fucking obnoxious dance parade at Magic Kingdom so you can't actually get your picture with them.
I rode the Frozen ride for the first time the other day and I wouldn't consider myself to be someone who's turned off by the whole Frozen craze but that ride was absolute shit. Like the worst new attraction they've had since that Stitch thing in Tomorrowland.
On the bright side, I got to fist bump Baymax and hug Joy afterwards and that redeemed my day.
Two rides, and a laser tag thing

Probably Magic Kingdom, but I like all the parks

Yes and I took pic related of him when I was there last week. They seriously need to do a M&G for him and Judy like they do in Disneyland cause I really want to hug him ;_;

Well I went to MK on PhotoPass Day, it was fun.
Hey guys whats your favorite disney related accident/death?

Birthday trip to the parks, including a possible stay at the Grand Californian. Beyond that, just hoarding money for a return visit when Star Wars Land opens
I was alive when the incidents on Big Thunder, S.S. Columbia, and the Roger Rabbit ride happened, but the America Sings incident still makes me a bit squeamish.
Oh god, Nick's costume looks like a high quality fur suit. I'm scared.
I heard Let's Player ChuggaaConroy has a fear of rollercoasters because he was about to ride BTMR just before the incident happened. Dude dodged a fucking bullet.
Hyped for Star Wars land
Pissed that it won't be massive
Semi-hype for Avatar-land

>Favorite Park
DisneyLand
>Favorite attraction
Either Haunted Mansion or Mr. Toad
>Have you ever worked at the parks?
No.
>Have you met smug fox yet?
I've only been to DisneyLand once, what I found kind of surprising was that I didn't see any of the princesses, but did see more obscure characters like Facilier and Mad Hatter walking around. I was too scared to talk to them or anything.
>Upcoming events / rides / whatever
>implying I'll ever get the chance to go again
Avatar 2 has to actually be made before it can bomb. Cameron says now it'll be ready by 2018 and now there's going to be four sequels total, but he's been saying "oh we're gonna do it, it'll be out by ____" for years.
>Unless Avatar 2 bombs, in which case Avatarland will be re-skinned into Beastly Kingdom
p-please?
Same
yeah man it's fuckin' spooky it's almost like high quality fursuits and disney's fur character suits are both professional grade costumes of anthropomorphic animal mascots!!!1!1!!
Who already hype for MNSSHP here? I missed out last year, gotta redeem myself and see some Sanderson Sisters.
Who're you dressing as?
The Big Thunder accident is interesting just because of all the factors that come together, but I also like the one about the two kids who overstayed their welcome on Tom Sawyer Island. Sure, they shouldn't have did what they did, but you've got to admire the older sibling who died trying to get his brother across.
I'm not familiar with the Tom Sawyer incident. Mind telling us a bit more?
n June 1973, an 18-year-old man drowned while attempting to swim across the "Rivers of America". He and his 10-year-old brother stayed on Tom Sawyer's Island past closing time by hiding in an area that is off-limits to guests. When they wanted to leave the island, they decided to swim across the river even though the younger brother did not know how to swim. The victim attempted to carry his younger brother on his back and drowned halfway across. His body was found the next morning. The younger brother was able to stay afloat by "dog paddling" until a ride operator rescued him
>tfw haven't been to florida in over ten years
Last time I was there they were announcing the Dudley Doo Right log ride was being shut down in Universal. Thinking of going there again but I don't wanna go without family, who can't afford to go.
Jesus that's awful. That poor kid who survived is always going to have to relive that moment and the guilt.
When I was younger I would read the Wikipedia page of all of them outloud to my family when we went to Disney. Must have been reeeeeal fun for them.
The fact that people died on the People Mover was always interesting to me.
...
but you wanna fuug it
>legitimate fursuits now at disney world

Fursuits have been at Disney since the start. Just wait until halloween gets closer and stares start selling Zootopia halloween costumes for kids and adults.
How does that differ from Robin hood and friends?
Or the Clarice, posted 2 posts above you.
I'll take Nick over all of these eww
Furry tech has come a long way. If the majority of fursuits made by/worn by actual furries were better quality, and weren't rainbow puke color scheme abominations, they would be more tolerable.

Do you think every single one of them in that picture wants to be there?
Like how many of them were forced to be there because of a S/O and how many wore a suit to avoid being seen by people they know?
Well that is just
>Opinions
territory, but I still don't get what is "illegitimate" on the old suits.
I always love EPCOT CENTER. Sadly that ship sailed long time ago. It's slowly turning into another franchise cash-in park and not a unique park about the future etc. With Horizon, The Living Sea, Journey Into Imagination, World of Motion, Body pavilion, etc now gone, It's just not same anymore. Oddly enough I'm not as mad about Maelstrom being gone as I am with what happening in Future World section. I do miss Maelstrom, but I miss Rio El del Tiempo more.
Genie left us all hanging. RIP ;_;
...
I'm pretty salty. I get why they're doing it, but how could they do that to Rod Serling's ghost?!
We had to carry my autistic brother out of the test track gift shop because he was clinging for dear life onto this $80 truck thing and he would never play with his toys more than throwing them down the stairs once or twice until they broke. Great idea for them to just dump you right at the gift shop in order to leave.

I'm sorry for posting this here, but it's been a few months and I need to vent. My girlfriend had family in Orlando, and mentioned offhand that her father wanted to meet me. Few days pass, she offers to take me down for Disney, as long as I pay travel costs. Sure, yeah, absolutely! The trip rolls around a few weeks later, and I arrive in Florida.
The entire trip, she's cold and snippy with me. If I make a joke, she gets annoyed at it. We barely spoke despite everything I tried to do. When I left, she tried to hi-five rather than fucking hug at the least. Like, come the fuck on. At least pretend you had a good time.
She broke up with me a week later. It was the worst vacation of my life. I had more fun on a one-day trip to a lake in Wisconsin, because I was with people who wanted me there. I can't think of Disney without thinking about the time and money I wasted to get near someone who didn't want me. Sorry for shitting up the thread. I needed to get this off my chest.
No, please vent. You're a better person than me, I would post that bitch's dox for having me spend all that money just to treat me like crap when I got there and never explain why.
>Classic Disneyland
>The old Star Tours (I've never ridden the new one, haven't visited in years)
>Nope, I don't live close to them.
>Nope, I met Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto and Stitch. I wish I got to meet Oswald, I don't know if they still have him.
I just...don't care enough. We didn't have a giant fight to break up, we didn't devolve into a screaming match on the PeopleMover, there was no breakdown after the billionth chorus of "A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORRROWWW". She just clearly didn't want me to be there anymore.
We shared a room. Two beds, her dad and his fiance in the other bedroom with her brother on the couch. If we shut the door, we're totally isolated.
It's not like I haven't gotten close to her before and was making inappropriate moves, either. I've felt her up, we've snuggled on her bed, much kissing was had.
She claimed to be asexual, but it's all a crock of shit. They get just as turned on as anyone.
The only physical contact I had with this girl was when I hugged her hello at the start of the week and when I made her hug me at the end.
We'd been playing Kingdom Hearts together. That's also kinda poisoned for me.
>That's also kinda poisoned for me
I get you. God know's I've got a shit ton of bad memories associated with that type of stuff. But you can't let that get you down. It sounds stupid, but you gotta let yourself have that game. Because otherwise you're ignoring an emotion that's behind that game. Y'can't let that shit get to you, you just can't
Three victims.
First was run over while jumping between cars while in a tunnel. This happened within the first months of operation.
Second jumped from a car with her friend to retrieve a lost mickey hat. Friend made into another car fine, but the victim ended up bolting and wound up falling 30 feet onto concrete. She survived, but had a broken hip, arm, and pelvis, requiring a full body cast.
Third victim was crushed and killed while jumping between cars just before entering the Superspeed Tunnel section of the ride.
The one in Florida isn't going anywhere though and it's the better version too
The one in FL isn't going anywhere -right now-. I guarantee you it's on their list of "upgrades" once they work the bugs out from Anaheim's launch.
I want that costume combined with pic related to fuck me.
who let the zoofags out of /trash/ ?
>I guarantee you it's on their list of "upgrades" once Marvel's contract with Universal runs out
FIFY
Still don't see the issue regardless. Guardians was a pretty great movie and it still fits. Maybe not fully in DCA but still.
wew
>tfw I'm at epcot rn
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they put in a little bit more effort on the outside. I mean, based off the concept art alone, they could at least try to hide the fact that it's still the same building.
Still not as good as Bell.
Out of all the parks, who's the rarest costume character out there?
Like, that you could maybe see today?
Because I think they had a Sora for like one event way back.
excuse me, but where's Judy?
Anyone not from a recent movie.
Robin Hood
Clara Cluck
Horace Horsecollar
I try not to think of that one. I don't know which is worse: Sora as a mask character or Jack Skellington as a face character.
he got hungry
>World showcase has Canada, USA and Mexico in order, marking the ends and center of the area.
As someone from /cum/ this pleases me greatly.
Also Japan's Mitsukoshi store is based
your comment is spieceist.
Probably Don Karnage, the rarest of them all.
Also, I'm gonna recommend a site for anons in this thread that want info on Disney characters like where to meet them, their rarity etc.
