I've never read this, but I heard up until act 5 this was good, is it actually worth checking out?

He wasn't the only good musician though. Music wasn't the only good thing to come from Homestuck either.
If you interested then the answer is yes.

It's really, really good, but the last segment of it kind of shits the bed a little and peters out, so it's a little disappointing

It is good, but the quality... fluctuates.

More good than bad though, and when it's good it's REALLY good.

Just know that the ending is extremely inconclusive and we're still waiting on the epilogue.

Toby Fox isn't even the second best musician on Homestuck. He might be third.

And the parts leading up to the ending are really REALLY bad, the worst parts of the comic.

He always shortens older newsposts when making new ones. This is nothing new. Epilogue will happen at some point, he's probably saving it to around when the game releases to build some much needed hype.

out of curiosity I looked up a summary of Homestuck.

I came out of that summary with even more questions than I went in with.

Is this normal? Should I just hunker down and get stuck in this shit or what?

He has/had a great sense of humour and a knack for making endearing characters that would get fucked over in multiple ways.

I wouldn't recommend it, you'll just end up disappointed.
There's better long-running meta web stuff out there anyway.

Even if he wasted it and made us all hate him, for a brief window he was putting out incredibly high quality content and had an adoring audience up in the million(s), which is a significant achievement that not many creators get to, especially for someone living in a basement, just fucking around in photoshop to glitch out skateboards and make sarcastic DUDE WEED LMAO jokes.

If you've played old classic Text Adventures, Table Top games, or love savvy 90's humor/references you'll really enjoy Homestuck.

It's doubtful Hussie lives in anyones basement, or did so when making Homestuck.
