uh, excuse me. i have a question about work in japan. how is full-time work and part-time work categorized? in the US, depending where you are located, any job that requires less than 30 hours a week is considered part-time. anything above would be full-time.

The problem is that it's a postwar law, and to repeal it you'd need a politician to make part of their campaign "Let's uncensor porn" And no one wants to be "That guy whose campaign contains porn"

For a job to be categorized as part time it has to stay under a daily limit of 4 hours, and a weekly one of 20. There's also Arubaito (temp job), which despite being full time has a daily limit of 8 and a weekly one of 40. Everything above that is considered regular salaryman job.

これ、大体、どんな情景かわかる? Trade groups themself censor their products by themself, as if on their own initiative, so that the government doesn't censor them in Japan. It is so-called 自主規制. 全く糞だぜ! 日本では「無臭」は見えないから、欲しい 日本では、日本語ができないと就職は難しい 余程の専門職でもない限り 殆ど、答えてくれてるな ポルノを解禁してくれる政治家いたら、絶対投票するわ

So I’ve been on a few dates with this girl and she invited me to her place and grabbed me out of my hotel in Shinjuku to spend the night with her.
We text daily. But I dunno if she really wants a boyfriend. I really like her though. Should I stop texting other girls on LINE? Would she be butthurt if I was keeping my options open?

I think Japanese job categorization is weird for Americans then.
mybestjob.jp/tane/part-baito-chigai.html According to this website, there is legally no difference among any workers, but in practice, of course there are certain differences between those two.
First, who decides you're full-time or part-time? It totally depends on the company which hired you. If you were hired as full-time, it means you can get social welfare and rarely get fired. It would not be easy to be a full-time worker if you started looking for a job over 25 years old (if you want at least to join in an average company). Other than that, you will be hired as a part-time worker.
Second, there are "part" and "albeit" in part-time job category but the definition is obscure. I think when some company need older part-time job worker (like house-wives) they use "part" but when they need young workers, they would use "albeit".
The benefit of part-time job is easier to quit the job, but most of the case you should take full-time job because Japanese company cares about your job history so much.
