I found a good way to determine whether or not you should even bother watching a movie. Search IMDb for the movie you think you want to watch, view user ratings and follow these rules:
1. If the average female rating is higher than the average male rating, the movie is not worth watching. 2. If the film is most popular with female baby boomers, you should NEVER watch it, even if it happens to follow the first rule.
If your movie however passes these two simple tests you can go ahead and watch it and judge for yourself.
But I have checked at least a dozen good , highly rated movies that I thought might appeal to females and so far these are the only two exceptions to your rule that I have found.

Your system is massively flawed OP. As more votes are counted toward a score, the average score will always go down. In your pic related, three times as many men voted as women, so the men's score has a much higher probability of being the lower score as opposed to the females.
Also IMDb rating averages are pretty shit in general, especially for film. Can't tell you many great films are rated below a 7. Rate Your Music has a much better list generator as you can look up user scores by genre, age range, location, etc.

Not him. If a film has few votes, it's because only people who actively sought the film out have seen it and voted on it. Because they sought it out, the probably will like it and rate it highly.
Eventually people less inclined to like it will end up seeing the film and rating it. Maybe they heard of the good reviews, or maybe they just happened to catch it on TV, whatever. It's only natural that the rating will go down when it's exposed to more or less random people as opposed to just fans of the film.
You would think, though, that the decline would be equal among men and women. Maybe men are more likely to watch random movies while women are more likely to only watch films they think they'll enjoy. For real accuracy, we'd have to have a chart of the ratings over time for both men and women.
