The place became flooded with right wing failed normies after gamergate during the US election. It used to be a place full of people with an alternate vision of life but now it's just bitter, angry and miserable people against society who turn to Sup Forums because they feel their views are rejected in places like Reddit.
Believe it or not Sup Forums people used to have ambitions, dreams and goals even if they were unconventional it was still a place for people who had some weird passion for life. Now it's just those who have given up on life sharing their angry feelings towards whatever group they feel like blaming for their failures and collectively hoping a war or nukes or something breaks out to put them all out of their misery.

Youtubers ruined it. By making videos about how 'cool' Sup Forums is they inevitably harboured thousands of newfags and redditfg here.

Been coming to this semen slurping site since 2009, what I've noticed over the years is that not following rules 1&2 killed this site

For me, 2006. It was obnoxious back then too, but it was also novel and harmless. Compared to today, Sup Forums up to ~2012 was fantastic. Shame nothing similar will ever come along for a number of reasons. Well, nothing similar that's remotely the size of Sup Forums.

2012 to mid 2014 was probably the golden era. Everyone had grown up out of the Sup Forums stuff and it was before the Sup Forums invasions started.
Just a really nice, comfy time for autistic fun.

Used to be that Sup Forums was only known in the edgy circles of the Internet. Then the major wave of normalfags flooded this place in 2014 seeking celeb nudes or GG shit, and are now dominating this site.

2010-~2013 was it for me. While there weren't as many raids or fun shenanigans on Sup Forums, the website had matured past memespam and was briefly a place where you could find a nice mix of standard Sup Forums dumbassery and interesting conversation. Now it's a complete abomination and a shell of its former self. Wouldn't be too broken out of shape if the site just died at this point. It's way past its prime.

I'd probably like if that happened. The place has gone way beyond the point of return and it's difficult to leave it since there are still some parts I like about it.

Sup Forums has a bunch of options for who'd host it, Sup Forums is obsolete here but the spirit does still live on in smaller imageboards, most other special interest boards have at least a few forums they can migrate to...it may not be that bad. It's getting harder and harder to stay on-topic in special interest boards anyway.

There are a lot of problems, but that's been a problem for the vast, vast majority of Sup Forums's lifespan. It didn't cause the site to crumble into what it is today.

Now Sup Forums is some culture war battleground that put their lot behind a political party and shills for their policies, which is unthinkable for oldfags.

It was becoming increasingly culture-wary, but I totally agree that Trayvon Martin just absolutely exploded in peoples faces. It's interesting - you got people like Weev, Sam Hyde, and a bunch of other people who basically pinpoint their hatred on that shooting alone.
