How? Vision made it pretty clear that even though it was against his preferences, Ultron needed to be put down because he was never going to stop. This was reinforced by the fact that he could lift Mjolnir. So unless there was a drone that nobody caught, Ultron's death is isn't open anything. He's gone.

It's possible Ultron squirreled away a version of himself somewhere, and that it's biding its time. I doubt that'll be the case. Marvel has been pretty final with their villains, not counting Loki.

Yeah, Ultron himself needed to be more powerful. We did get the scene where he kicks Tony's ass about 4 different ways, but we definitely needed a scene where he beats the entire time prior to QS and SW joining the Avengers.

Regardless. It's retarded for him to save Ultron. Especially inside of Vision, which is probably the worst possible place to put him. Having such a change of mind like that (knowing full well that if Ultron should take over or get free, he'll never stop what he started) is one of the dumbest thing to be done, in universe and out.

It doesnt need to be a retcon, they don't show what happens to the last drone. Its purposefully vague. Likely....nothing will happen. We had Abomination, Leader, Red Skull and other little things get forgotten in favor of new disposable characters. You never know, they brought Ross back which surprised me, but that was an 8 year gap. We might not see Ultron again till 2023.
