The country's post industrial hellhole? Seriously

best city in mexico by faaarrr... you jelly fag.

Most of the city is shitty monoblocks, add all the American style malls and big box retailers it practically is Texas. I wouldn't agree with Guanajuato capital but I would at least respect it as a choice. León is a cultural wasteland that combines the worst in both rural and industrial Mexico.

And they LARP as norteños which is cringe no matter where you're from in the country.

Two world wars and one fire bombing.

Molenbeek!

Nice.
bretty nice.

If you want to enjoy the freedom and fun of the wild west without the danger, this is the place.

>poor man's Las Vegas

Best city in Mexico is Mexico City, I'll post a couple of Zacatecas for a change tho

...

More like Las Vegas without everything that makes Las Vegas suck

I honestly don't travel to cities much in the US, but Boston was comfy as hell. I've lived in the Chicago area all my life and I'm trying to get to Seattle ASAP, never visited but it looks great minus the homeless people.

God I miss Porto. I have a lot of friends who study at FCUP. Out of all the places I went in Europe, Porto seemed the most livable.

...

mexico city would be nice but there are filled with gross chilangos that destroy the language and smell like shit.

a shame to, it had so much potential.

The best thing about Boston is the people. They all walk fast, look pissed off and couldn't give less of a shit about you. Truly refreshing after being in the south.

>Mexico City
Can a gringo safely walk around there? Seems a lot better than the border towns. I was planning on climbing Orizaba some time in the next several years and I'd love to explore Mexico City a bit, especially seeing the Trotsky house. I kinda wanna get a photo in front with my ice axe.

Kek, I found people in New England to be oddly friendly compared to where I'm from (Chicago area). I was 16 though so I might have been too autistic to notice.

I don't think I could ever live in the south, the climate is a big part of it.

yeah, you can walk safely in the downtown and in the rich areas..

you would also be fine walking at the ZONA ROSA that is where all the nice whores are.

a lot of colombian and argie girls.

...

I know where you're coming from. I've been living in the deep south for 14 years and I can't wait to move. The heat isn't what makes it suck, it's the humidity. In about a month I won't be able to step outside for more than two minutes without getting drenched in sweat.

Shut the fuck up acomplejado

>Can a gringo safely walk around there?
It's about the same as Chicago, you need to exercise common sense, nice areas in broad daylight you should have no issues, there's a relatively big American expat community, go party in bars/restaurants on Tamaulipas in Condesa and you'll meet plenty.

Coyoacán which is where Trotsky's house is located is pretty comfy

Are those houses permanently inhabited or are they just summer cottages? Living there would seem like maximum comfy for for a hermit like me.

*raises the sea level*

>Zona Rosa
user, those are girls(male)

Unless you're stupid enough to walk into the stripbars that is, something something a fool and his money

Stick to high end escorts in Mexico City, better girls and no bs getting charged for every single extra, it will actually be cheaper than going for just a drink at a Zona Rosa strip club

>The heat isn't what makes it suck, it's the humidity
Sounds about right. I lived in Colorado for a while and I found summers there a lot more tolerable than here in Chicago even if they were about 10 degrees warmer. Out west it's truly a dry heat while in the midwest it still gets pretty humid.

One thing about the dry climate out west, though, even if it's sunnier it can get really fucking depressing, especially in winter. Things felt a lot more "dead" than they do here, not a lot of green.

...

>It's about the same as Chicago, you need to exercise common sense
I live on the north side of Chicago right now. I've driven through some rough neighborhoods and never really felt unsafe in the city. Life here is basically just avoiding certain metro/bus lines.

Not easy to answer since there are so many... I personally would go with Lindau.
>beautiful old town
>on an island in the Bodensee which is really nice
>filthy rich
>really close to the alps (also Italy)

How much is rent in those apartments? I think they'd be great to stay in as a tourist but kinda awful as a permanent resident with throngs of people everywhere.

There you go, you should have no problems, just don't get too complacent, keep in mind it is a foreign country and Mexico is third world

>apartments in the center of a western European capital
I'm guessing a lot, amigo

Nah, just summer cottages. Fuck, i want a house near the water. Fishing, morning swim...

I probably will only spend a day or two in Mexico City anyways, my plan is to fly into Mexico City, take a bus to Tlachichuca, take a Jeep to the hut, climb Orizaba, and then get back to Mexico City the same way. I've been wanting to do it ever since I've watched this vimeo.com/138548519

How important is knowing Spanish? I already know Portuguese so it probably wouldn't be too hard to pick up some necessary phrases, plus I can kinda do "Portunhol."

For example:

You can always pay more...

>inside the town

Knew it was a lot. Kitchen looks bretty cozy tho.

What are salaries like for, say, a typical engineer in the area?

>How important is knowing Spanish?
If you'll be staying at a nice hotel and generally visiting touristy areas you can get away with just token phrases, couple of things tho, don't do Orizaba in just two days, take time to adapt to altitude. If you'll be in Mexico City you can try doing that in Iztaccihuatl and bag two peaks on your stay. Also consider a guide service and I'm not talking for the climbing part, I assume you know what you're doing if you're going for that type of schedule, but just the logistics of transport, suplies and gear, it will be almost as cheap as renting a car and doing it alone for a drop off/pick up service, and you'll have someone to chat with and who can bail you out if there's any issues

Orizaba may not be a hard clkimb on the standard route but keep in mind this is something higher than anything in the Alps, people do get rekt climbing.

why have I never heard of this place?

No idea since it is full of tourists (which would be a bit of a downside of living there)

B,,,Belgium? (つд⊂)ゴシゴシ

Name a better one then.

Mexico City is not a good answer in the slightest.

Guadalajara is an acceptable answer.

t Bajío
I just posted Zacatecas and made mention of Guanajuato as a respectable choice, but there's Puebla and Xalapa as very respectable choices, which isn't even me trying as legit León is practically Tijuana tier and there's a literal hundred pueblos making for a better quality of life to live in or a better place to visit.

>Guadalajara
There's not a single thing wrong with Mexico City that isn't wrong with Guadalajara as well if you want a non meme answer, and Guadalajara cannot compete with Mexico City in some key areas like museums and architecture and this is just talking sheer volume granting Guadalajara has some very nice things. On just a better experience Xochimilco beats Tlaquepaque, Chapultepec beats la Primavera and Teotihuacán beats Tequila. Other than chilango memes I can't see you picking Guadalajara over Mexico City unless YOU like it better, but then that's subjective and not an argument for a third party isn't it?

I get it you're from Bajío and like your city but you could've gone with San Miguel de Allende or Real de Catorce. León has a somewhat nice core center district (not nearly as nice as Guanajuato's even if it's bigger) and a handful of nice churches, that's it, unless you're buying shoes and leatherworks there really is nothing else, the lake area is half nice I guess, night life is abominable.

I'm actually from Baja California.

I misread the OP and thought this thread was about the greenest city

welp, it’s actually one of the few remaining parts of an ancient forest that used to cover the whole region that hasn’t been turned into farmland. It served first as a natural defense and was turned into a park in the 18th century I believe

Vancouver

...

At least the fucking skin color is right. We should put walls around the city to keep the chugs out, they com here from all across western Canada.

best latam city.

Although Braga, Guimarães and a couple others can arguably compete.
