Itt silly and dumb tropes you can't help but love

>hero about to die
>archenemy comes in and helps hero
>Only i can kill you!

You must love Wander Over Yonder

I loved that shit in the forgotten realms books
>Drizzet captured by his family and his death sentence has a date on it.
>Catibri and Artimis venture into the Underdark to get him back
>Artimis just wants the pleasure of being able to kill the black skinned fuck himself

>VIllain tries to act like a baddass
>is actually an insecure loser deep inside
>his sidekicks try to boost his ego because they believe in him

>Villain is full of personality and is very likeable regardless of being evil
>hero is bland and boring
>show actually allows villain to win

>Main character and his arch nemesis would be best friends if it wasn`t for different ideologies
>in the few occasions they team up they have tons of chemistry
>when the truce is over they take it well and act like its all part of the fun

>Bird monster/ winged fighter
>has razor sharp wings/ can shoot bladed feathers
Makes wings awesome as fuck.

>Foreign person: [LONG AND INCOMPREHENSIBLE STRING OF FOREIGN WORDS SPOKEN LOUDLY]
>Other character: He says yes.

Man, I always loved the fuck out of that.

>characters are mouthing words to eachother or drunkenly speaking in incomprehensible slurred words with subtitles underneath
>one character starts on a long speech
>subtitles just read "??????????"

>Villains do normal everyday chores when not fighting the heroes

BLUE LAZER!

>Character: SCHIESSE!
>Subtitles: Oh bother.

>sequel to a movie or other piece of media in a franchise with a fairly long time between entries
>returning characters have little moments in the beginning that re-establish their traits

>BBEG's dumb muscle goon switches sides and joins the protagonists because they treated him nicely for once
>Long timeskip signified by everyone growing long shaggy beards
>Characters hop into a car and dramatically rev it up, only to travel ten feet and hop back out
>Angry cat-noises when someone throws something off-screen
>Character looks over an arsenal of menacing-looking weapons, only to grab a tennis racket
>Angry, brutish thug says something extremely educated/feminine

And my favourite:
>Character makes up an incredibly fake-sounding name on the spot
>Later a person with that name shows up

>the tough, stern badass has a soft spot for kids

THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP

>tough/quiet/shy/evil guy doesn't know how to show affection. is awkward

>Big bad muscle guy has a very delicate/feminine hobby

>We're not doing X
>I can't believe we are doing X

>Character falls, trips
>Explodes
>A character remembers something another character said in a flashback
>Said character is literally standing next to him/her repeating the same words over and over

>Villain has a code of honour

>Superhumanly strong good guy who's generally pacific looses his shit and just goes all out on the villain
>Bonus points if super speed

>Fight scene with unfitting music in the background
>Alternatively, fight scene while a concert plays

>protagonists meet palette swapped/alternate versions of themselves

Bump

>character supposedly dies
>comes back as a cyborg

>Character is cut in half
>comes back as 2 cyborgs

>Big hotblooded speech about JUSTICE before facing the villain

Never ever get tired of that shit.

that's fantastic, as well

>Alternatively, fight scene while a concert plays

>background music has operatic vocals to it

>War Speeches
>A character/army is about to face an enemy they definetly can't defeated
>Charges with all they have and meet death head on with a smile

>"Jerk with a Heart of Gold" characters

>mutual oblivious pining
>bonus points if another person is trying to nudge them together

>"The reason you suck" speeches

>The reason I suck speeches

the alternative
>tough guy of the gang treats small animals adorably

Literally no such shows exist with any one of these tropes

>Random shmuck in the right place at the right time winds up with super powers
>winds up being a nice guy who goes on to save people
>high school superhero

the golden combo

Main villain takes a personal interest in hero and wants him as an apprentice/partner/successor/surrogate child

>"how could this get any worse?"
>looks up, expecting rain
>some other, more absurd thing happens, like an anvil randomly falling from the sky

I've only not seen the second one.

The first one has at least Wander Over Yonder as an example, or were you fishing for (You)'s to bone up on shows that had these tropes?

>surrogate
But nah, I get ya.

>supporting character vs. villain
>supporting character getting their asses handed to them and then some
>villain makes an effort to be a dick and pisses off supporting character
>supporting character goes absolutely apeshit and tears the villain's ass up

In this one case it was by blood, but I know of a ton where it wasn't, such as pic related

>show makes fun of parkour by having character do it lamely

>The villain has a sidekick
>Sidekick is revealed over the course of the series to be manipulative as fuck
>It later turns out said sidekick is the real villian
>Sidekick throws original villain out at the last minute to complete their own plan
>Original villain teams up with heroes to stop them

>Final battle
>Remix of main theme plays

>It's a wrestling episode

>the world you thought was just a random fantasy land is actually Earth years into the future/alternate universe/etc.!!!

I've always liked it when a main villain or hero dies halfway through the show and a secondary character assumes their place and ends up playing a larger role in the great scheme of things. Or alternatively

>Character barely mentioned in the first episodes ends up becoming a major player in later seasons

>character who often provides comic relief but isn't a joke character
>has moments of being a total fucking badass
>is also "the feels character"

Only examples I have are Michelangelo from TMNT (especially IDW) and Cisco from CW's The Flash.

>comic relief character ends up sacrificing himself to save the day
>bonus points if he survives somehow and all of his friends show their appreciation for him

>major character is injured/sick and has to be taken care of by other characters
>other characters have to deal with injured character's problems

Wally West in his two animated forms?

What are the two animated forms?

>Villain obsessively hates the hero

>Bonus points: Villain obsessively hates the hero and at the same time wants to be like him/has a fetish for the hero

JL/JLU and Young Justice

>robot character has some sort of helmet/head attachment that resembles hair

>Stupid character suggests something completely weird and nonsensical to the situation
>Another character, later presented with the same situation has the exact same idea

>Character breaks character, up and leaves the episode, and has to be replaced

>Minor Joke Villain actually manages to fuck up not just the hero, but the entire world and everyone who opposes him

>"Wow, that was a great prank, but how did you do X?"
>"...I didn't set up any X."

>Character builds go-kart
>Other characters get into the act
>Wacky Races ensue

>Character has a realistic and disturbing fear that effects them on a deep, personal level
>They have to chose between conquering their fear or letting someone die
>They're still completely terrified of the thing, but are willing to work through it if it means helping their friends

>Hero character goes to jail
>He adapts incredibly while the others think he's going through Hell

>Character is presented as the hero to end all heroes, the greatest protagonist ever, the world's greatest
>He gets his ass kicked by the villain and has to spend the next several episodes recuperating
Similarly:
>Hero fights villain
>Villain wails on the hero repeatedly and horrifically in front of a growing crowd of civilians
>Hero keeps getting back up only get his ass kicked again and again
>"WHY! WON'T! YOU! STAY! DEAD?!"
As well as:
>Hero gets ass whooped by villain
>Crowd begins taking hero's side
>Villain claims himself victorious but his cruelty has turned everyone against him

>Villain threatens to do something really bad if Hero doesn't expose his identity
>Hero shows up and reveals himself
>Before he can someone else claims to be him
>Followed by another
>And another
>And another after that
>Soon the villain has an entire crowd of people in front of him claiming to be his nemesis

>The hero beats the villain, but only in a Pyrrhic victory.

>Hero returns home after his journey to go back to normal boring life
>He's content with that

>MC has a rival of equal strength/skill with a similar fighting style
>initially gets their asses kicked by them
>MC slowly improves and eventually surpasses them by the end of the story

>foreign character says things no one understands, they just glance over it
>its actually shady af

>alien/foreign character fucks around with everyday things trying to understand what it is

>villains henchmen spend time with the hero
>changes sides

>character a saves b
>immidiately after b saves a (bonus if while trying to escape together)

and my favorite
>broken bird learns joy again

there a name for these, i just call the second to last one a "double-ended save"

>villain gets defeated by hero
>hero replaces villain
>new hero has to defeat old hero

>villain beats hero with ease
>takes pity on him
>gives him some advice or tips on fighting

I like these

>Character becomes a man so he gets a moustache
>character brings an oddball item on a mission that nobody thinks will be useful, but it turns out to be important

Most of these happened in SU so pic related I guess?

>character get item in first episode
>completely forgotten
>used in the final episodes
BUT
>other character gets a series of magical items throughout the series
>never uses any of them
WHY DIDNT YOU JUST USE THE PRESIDENTS KEY ON MABELS PRISON BUBBLE

Christ, you sound like an insufferable faggot.

pure coincidence friend, i didnt even notice

I love how the final episode of Seinfeld had an Art Vandelay in it.

>characters come up with plan
>use hand drawn map and random shit around house for visual aid
>one character is always a cool action figure
>another character doesn't like his figure because is something like an egg or a doll

>Hero fights villain
>Villain wails on the hero repeatedly and horrifically in front of a growing crowd of civilians
>Hero keeps getting back up only get his ass kicked again and again
>"WHY! WON'T! YOU! STAY! DEAD?!"
OnePunch Man. What are the others?

>Antagonistic rival is an arrogant shit
>"Fufufu, I'll only need 5 minutes to beat you"
>Has an intense battle against the hero. Hero is constantly on the ropes but manages to just barely hold on.
>Out of nowhere hero pulls off some crazy move/technique/whatever. Does some real damage to the rival.
>Hero still loses.
>After 6 minutes.

>supporting character gets to take out a villain

The Crow movie did a pretty cool one in the climax where he storms the cathedral. Gladiator had a bit in the finale as well. All sorts of animes pull this with every villain the hero fights.
My favorite is in Saints Row 2 though where the Boss beats the shit out of this voodoo zombie loonatic in a boss fight, empties an entire clip into him, then finally gets so sick of it that he lops off the guy's head and tosses it into an industrial meat grinder. He later shows up in 4 anyways as a Radio DJ with no explination.

>supporting character redeems a villain
or
>villain tries to help supporting character confront his/her own demons

bonus if both characters aren't even related or share a past with each other

This sounds familiar. The supporting character redeeming villain sounds like krillin. But i dont know an example to the second one.

>Slapstick happening to the rhythm of the background music
Everytime

I meant where are the other tropes from.

While not really a villain, Iroh helped Toph get over her problems in Book 2 of Avatar.

>Wilhelm Scream

>Series has a tournament/contest/public competition of some type that's very important to a likeable side character and friend of MC.
>gets matched against a major villain or their direct underling.
>Villain proceeds to beat them as direly as they can while still being within the rules of the competition.
>Side character never concedes defeat, even if they begin taking irreversible harm.

That and the gut-wrenching scream always get a laugh out of me

>Other villains are psychotic or sociopaths but know what they are doing is evil or negative.
>That one villain who is genuinely delusional and thinks they are the hero or in the right.

All I can think of right now is Dr. Screwball Jones or Zsasz, but these are my favorite type of villains.

>the YOUUUUUAAAAAAARGH/Howie Scream

vegeta was the only one i ever believed this from because the guy is an ocd obsessive mental illness. db is still the least risk taking bullshit ever

>sesshomaruru, kill me brother
>no, nyanman, only when your powerful wnough to fight me

>super positive character becomes depressed and apathetic
>the usual goth/pessimist/apathetic character has to act positive to cheer them up

Good thread.

Basically the Kim Possible finally right

>>Long timeskip signified by everyone growing long shaggy beards
>There was actually no timeskip and the characters are wearing fake beards for some reason

Finale*
Dumb auto-correct

>Villain is full of personality and is very likeable regardless of being evil
>hero is bland and boring
>show actually allows villain to win
Hellsing?

>Main villain is beaten and replaced by a new one
>Main character and the friends and allies he made throughout the series team up to defeat someone
>Main character has a partner who turns evil and the main character regrets it all throughout the series

>ordinary human being is the single most frightening villain in the entire show
Bonus points if the show involves people with powers

I love this nonsense.

youtube.com/watch?v=hWUaT5ovZ50

Where can I find the third one? Sounds like fun.

>Alucard
>Boring
>The Major
>Winning
It's debetable

The last one is the pic he posted. Some would argue the second one is too.

Hellsing

>Villains declare MC their rival/enemy
> MC just says 'cool' and befriends them after each beating

>Sports episode, like Baseball
>Towards the end it just devolves into an indirect brawl
>Players trying to break each other physically with pitches and peggings

>Villain is about to perform deadly ultimate apocalyptic attack on civilians
>MC is so far away they cannot stop it, the pseudo nuke goes off
>Music/sound mutes and go silent, so you cannot hear their scream as the attack lands

>MC needs a new weapon or power, has to make a sacrifice
>Is told they'll literally have their eye stabbed out for it
>Brief hesitation .. then they merely nod
>Cue screaming

>Villain is so powerful they can take on multiple strong opponents
>Counting their enemies, they laugh and announce a way to handicap themselves
>"This makes for a fair fight doesn't it?"

>MC has a pseudo super form like the Avatar State
>Always with the glowing eyes and suddenly flamey flowing hair+Aura
>It immediately tells viewer that Shits getting real

>An entire mellow, near silent episode, seems like it's going to be philososhit
>Ends with a brutal ass fight sequence built up at the end
>Returns to calm tone again for last minute

>Character is debating switching sides mid battle as another is getting their ass kicked
>The moment they do and defend them, the music changes

>Nu-Male/Beta like character acts like a huge cuck most of the time
>It's revealed later because he can kick anyones ass terrifyingly
>Is so scared of his terrifying power himself he restrains always

>Dance sequence with rap/hiphop music
>Turns into a literal dance fight where they're battling with breakout music

>That entire thing where after a furiously lethal fight, a character kisses the other confusingly, before continuing to beat the shit out of them
All pulled from a series I was working on

>>Alternatively, fight scene while a concert plays
Love this trope, has any series done it?
The only times I can think of are Danny Phantom and Casshern Sins.

>That entire thing where after a furiously lethal fight, a character kisses the other confusingly, before continuing to beat the shit out of them

MGS4 pulls that shit in the final fight between Ocelot and Snake, specifically in the part where Snake and Ocelot fight like their MGS3 versions.

>>Hero character goes to jail
>>He adapts incredibly while the others think he's going through Hell

Oh god fuck yeah. Jail episodes..
>Main character has to adapt to being in Jail
>Obvious power inhibitors or something
>Is picked on by a brute, has to topple the Top-Dog overtime and become new Jail gang leader
>Does favors for others winning respect and loyalty
>Spends time in solitary confinement/brainwashing torture chambers
>Fight scenes within cells and in bunkers
>After they become new jail king/queen everyone respects them
>"We're gonna break out. Here's the plan"
>Lets_Start_A_Riot.3DaysGrace
>What follows is them orchestrating a breakout masterfully

Except for the Dance battle thing, you have absolutely dont taste. You named all the worst tropes for little kids shows. Literally crap.

I don't think you can fit all that in a 20 minute episode

>hero defeats villain but not completely
>side character who got shat on by villain constantly comes across them afterwards and delivers the final blow

>comic relief character has secret hidden issues/is actually incredibly competent or dangerous

/comics and cartoons/

Spectacular Spiderman, Regular show, Ben 10 UA, and probably more that I don't remember rn

I swear that series should be studied for it's invented tropes
>Most Powerful Superhero ever
>Every battle is just an unbeatable opponent waling on him without any real effort or trying
>Beaten in one move when they get 'serious'

>Villain gets beatdown after searching the universe for a strong opponent
>"You weren't even really trying"

>Side-char becomes a disciple of the MC
>MC doesn't really care about this at all
>It's actually pretty annoying, they just cannot get rid of them

>Villain gradually hunts down heroes, known threat to all of them, becomes strongest, deadliest Supervillain ever
>But cannot even topple MC ultimately
>"WHY CANNOT I BEAT YOU"

>Tournament arc
>MC defeats every one of their opponents effortlessly

>Guy believed to be the strongest Super in the world, everyone scared of him
>Actually just a weird normal weak guy way too terrified to tell anybody
>Happened to be at the right place and time whenever a villain fell and was given credit

Why not? I think you could pretty easily.
