Moana

Is anyone else really excited? Tangled was the last really Disney movie since it didn't have a twist villain and also had songs unlike some of the last few except frozen. I hope this is more similar to tangled than it is to frozen or something like that though.

I'm just in it for the thicc art.

Hopefully there will be bobbleheads for sale.

Looks like the villain's pretty clear already. Big lava monster god.
If nothing else it's going to be at least as visually impressive as Zootopia was.

The evil pygmies are going to be Disney version of the minions.

>The Rock singing
I'm fucking ecstatic.

I tried creating a thread yesterday but no one is interested. I am surprised more waifu people aren't into Moana yet. I remember Zootopia had a lot of threads prior to release basically drooling over Nick and Judy.

Fyi, Tangled was originally meant to have a twist. Gothel originally came off as a decent mother who over the course of the movie was more obviously an overprotective, smothering helicopter parent. They eventually decided to just make her obviously evil.

its probably because people care less about Brown Princess movies over talking animal movies. I have a feeling the box office will reflect this as well

Really? They were going to have a twist? Was M. Night Shyamalan secretly put in charge of Disney?

Not really, it looks mediocre as fuck and the only reason it will do better than everything else this year and sweep the awards is because it's fucking Disney.

Meanwhile Kubo's being completely ignored.

>>

they're Kakamora. I think they will only show for the pirate scene

naw, it will do great domestically, there's a reason they hired the Rock to voice Maui.

>Kakamora

I'm pretty sure that they will be the Disney mascots even if they in only one scene in the movie.

will they get as bad as Minions?

Disney will definitely try.

The film was a lot darker before it changed directors. Gothel was supposed to love Rapunzel instead of only loving her hair.

I hope it doesn't. I want this to be successful. Don't let another PATF happen.

i appreciate Laika for their love of stopmotion, but seriously, hide better writers, and do better marketing. Academy Awards arent about popularity or box office, they're about uh..
relevant issues or something.

what's Kubo about? asian culture?

Family and humility seemed to be the biggest themes of the movie.

havent found any toys of them , but yeah, such an easy merch to do.

PATF failed because it was about a black woman finding her place.

Moana is about a girl finding her true identity.

wondermondo.com/Countries/Au/Solomon/MakiraUlawa/KakamoraCaves.htm

Kakamora are real!

PATF failed because it was kind of boring. I actually really, really like Tiana's character. I remember watching the movie and thinking how great of a model she is to kids, but how awfully mediocre the story is.

Great "princess", great villain, funny best friend, charismatic and funny love interest, but goddamn the story was so mediocre.

>they physically built animation smear frames for the sword slashes
Holy shit

this is a character design that would look better in 2d

Thank god it didn't. Tangled remains one of my favorite Disney movies. No one takes me seriously when I say that, but it's more fun that any other movie Disney had in a while.

>Moana is unusual in being a female wayfinder, since most Polynesian wayfinders are males. During navigation it is important to be able to read the swells of the ocean, which is achieved by sitting cross-legged on the bottom of the boat and feel the movements of the waves in their testicles.

all that work for a guaranteed flop, only because its not disney
what shitty world we live in

if only i know where gothel got the manual for the magic flower.

passion project, they do it FOR FUN!

...

dont worry, one of the screnwriter is from the zootopia crew, it's gonna be good

The beginning and the end are good but the middle of the movie just drags. They shouldn't have had them wander in the swamp for so long.

I take you seriously, user. It is one of my favorite animated movies.

I got the art book earlier this year. Hopefully I can get the Blu-ray in the future. I really want the Disney Infinity figure too but it's impossible to get it in my corner of the world.

w what

>They shouldn't have had them wander in the swamp for so long.
This. And as frogs.

>one of the screnwriter is from the zootopia crew, it's gonna be good
I'm kind of hoping. I'm liking the look of the trailer too. Something about islands and beaches are very comforting.

it's the one who likes diapers, crossdressing, toilet humour and bitchy women, just check his penn zero cartoon

imdb.com/title/tt3521164/trivia?ref_=tt_trv_trv

just trivia. hopefully polynesians wont go full bionicle over this.

Songs aren't a good thing, op.

>Turns out the villain is actually the sea itself. Lava God and Ocean are equals, Lava creates land within the vast Ocean to prevent it from over taking all creation. They maintain this balance. It was all a scheme, the Ocean had chosen Moana as a baby to tip the scales in its favor against the Lava God.

>I remember Zootopia had a lot of threads prior to release basically drooling over Nick and Judy.
That's because Sup Forums is infested by furries.

Mo will simply have to improvise to be a great Wayfinder.

Frozen says otherwise.

You crushed my hope really fast.

...

There were furries who lusted after the characters, but the threads also had a lot of doomsday posts and complaints about furries. You gotta have the right balance of lusting anons and annoyed anons to keep discussion going.

yeah, one of the great minds behind proto-zootopia, really.

we just had no expectations for that movie, these trailers were so offputting.

>visually impressive as Zootopia was.

I wonder how many wayfinders had their sacks bitten by fish

Not enough.

Zootopia was pretty, man. A lot of expansive, well-designed scenes.
Frozen, by contrast, was a fat load of white shit that was boring to look at after the first two minutes.

yes i know, Zootopia was detailed a hell, with lots of unique designs, meanwhile Moana is going to be: plants water, lava, water, water, water.

I wonder if they choose a pig after the success of gravity falls? Sup Forums is usually right about the quality of films though. Will it beat Zootopia though at the Oscars?

we have like 6 months to find out, as for the pig, it's another "animal acting like a dog" character

..and this is Alan Tudyk's new performance.A really stupid rooster, (originally he was supposed to be an ashol.. a real nuisance)

that pig designs kind of creepy, there's too much white in its eyes and now its tipping into uncanny valley

Tangled wasn't, and personally it's because of Mother Gothel. Or do you want one of the infamous recent twists to not make it boring?

PATF failed because it had a mediocre story and they stayed in the swap far too long as frogs.

Typical Disney, pretending and making propaganda about how women are just like men. Equality is a farce people. Then again you people love giving money to Disney so you think that whatever Disney shits out is true.

i think it's cute.

i heard same complaint about the bunny.

>not liking music
Why is Sup Forums being invaded by aliens?

I'm never excited for a Disney production. Since Inside Out I've completely given up hope. It's gonna be another great premise ruined by Disney's kid-friendly humor and absolute refusal to incorporate any concepts that might force kids to think.

Tangled was boring to me because Rapunzel was not appelaing (shut up waifufaggots), just some barbie doll for the Princess Line Up. Flynn was a loser emasculated butt monkey. The animals were fucking obnoxious as per usual in Disney films, especially the try hard horse. Gothel was a lame villain in the sense of who really is intimidated by her? She has powers as a witch but her powers were weaker than even Evil Queen's.

And the main mission in the story, show a shallow vapid blonde the river lights? Pure fluffy shit. I cannot believe Sup Forums ate that shit up, prefer Zootopia's Leftist propaganda than this junk. But that's the problem with Disney nowadays. All their movies are either Estrogen machines or Leftist propaganda incarnate.

The idea of having a strong male lead worth a damn is foreign to Disney nowadays. Hiro from BH6 looks like a girl (which explains the cross dressing fetishists in that fanbase).

I's beautiful water.

>prefer Zootopia's Leftist propaganda

It WAS going to be leftist propaganda, but that's history now.

It's funny that the Polynesians are seafarers but preferred to eat pigs and chicken than fish.

are fish/chicken native to polynesia?

Zootopia is still Leftist propaganda. Judy Hopps is a Female cop who is competent? Instant bullshit detected. Plus the central theme of "understand each other and work together despite differences" yeah....Disney try telling that to Europe I'm sure they want to bring in more Rapefugees. Fuck Disney.

>fish
user...

>making Zootopia about feminism
You don't even believe your lies.

i mean pig. i meant PIG

go away Sup Forums
those refugees are victims and whatever negative incidents in europe are caused by your bigotry. the victims are mostly racists anyway so no true human life was harmed. Diversity is our strength user

go watch Angry Birds if you want a movie about rapefugees.

Imho, it would have been better if Gothel had familial feelings for Rapunzel but was an emotionally abusive, overprotective better. I preferred the older idea.

I avoided Zootopia threads because I didn't want to bother with furries, and this is coming from a feral furry. Were they mostly doomsday? I thought they were mostly positive with a few "This movie won't sell much" people thrown in.

Maybe that's why Moana threads are so dead. There's literally nothing to complain about. I have mild nostalgia towards the pre-Frozen threads. They were 99% complaining. I don't know if the BH6 threads were similar.

>doomsday

i dont remember any doomsday, we were just complaining why Disney treated like unwanted child.

*treated it

Nowadays? When's the last time they had one?

Tarzan?

Strong male leads have never been Disney's thing.

Even in supposed Princess Films Disney had a bit of history doing strong males. Prince Eric from Little Mermaid kicked ass when it came down to it. The point is they keep churning out these obviously feminine, soft, emasculated, stupid, etc males in their films and it's obnoxious. Who the hell wants to identify with unappealing males?

Maybe thirsty loser betas.

Hiro is a strong male lead. He looks childish because he's a kid. He's even younger than Aladdin.

There definitely were, like how it will herald the new furry culture and make them the norm, how it will be the next MLP, etc. It's funny because Sup Forums sucks at predicting things.

Grew up in a fishing family. I ate fresh salmon, lobster and scallops so much I got sick of them and would beg my parents for some hamburger or chicken breast.

Now I'm grown and moved away for work and realize what an idiot I was. And now I'm homesick...

Maui will steal this movie, mark my words.

PATF didn't fail, the fuck are you even on about? It was considered successful, just not Frozen levels which was probably what they really wanted.

i liked when they treated it like the next Lion King for some reason , Zootopia had no impact on anything , just yet another two hours of animated entertainment.

here in the Netherlands it's also called that.
and in italy the movie is named oceana because a porn star already has the name moana

There's supposed to be no love interest for the female protagonist so that's refreshing for Disney movie. unless you count Zootopia. checkmate, NickxJudy faggots.
