Which contemporary Disney movies would Walt have approved of, which would he have beaten a director over?
Which contemporary Disney movies would Walt have approved of, which would he have beaten a director over?
He would be taken aback by everything because he's from the first quarter of the 20th century and even then he found shit like the original Pinnochio novel too heady for families. If saw the "Shut Up and Drive" scene in Wreck It Ralph he would fire the whole building.
This. He'd be completely unable to understand the products of today's media environment and flip his shit over it.
He'd probably be okay with Zootopia if you told him that Ms Bellwether was a jew.
>If saw the "Shut Up and Drive" scene in Wreck It Ralph he would fire the whole building.
Just because of the pop song or because of the heavy slapstick?
It was a big myth spread by communists that Walt was anti-semitic or had Nazi sympathy
>le Walt hated jews meme
where did this even originate, was it Family Guy?
I don't know
But it was very unlikely that Walt was a nazi considering he made plenty of anti-nazi cartoons during WW2.
It's not like everyone who was an anti-semite was a nazi. The venn diagram had a lot of overlap, but not total.
After WWII, Leni Riefenstahl, infamous Nazi propaganda director, came to Hollywood, apparently in an attempt to get back into Showbiz. Of all the studio heads she tried to contact, Disney was the only one that met with her.
Also he had former employees he worked with quit and accuse him of anti-semitism. It may be because they had a grudge, maybe not, no way to know.
Well everyone who's a nazi was an anti-semite, so it would be the nazi circle within the anti-semite circle.
Walt Disney went through great effort not to employ communists and actually exposed quite a few. Butthurt that nobody wanted to hire a bunch of meme revolutionaries, they spread the rumor that he hated jews.
He went to a great deal of effort to not pay his employees fairly, and those who protested he called commies.
Approved: The Lion King, Tangled
Blasphemy: Chicken Little
Pretty obvious to me though.
>Chicken Little
Oh jesus I always forget about this atrocity
It'd been around for a while since a lot of the "sources" were former employees that left the company on bad terms but really took off in the mid-'90s because of the book Walt Disney: Dark Prince of Hollywood, which contains a bunch of material that was easily debunked.
There is quite a bit of material that's considered racist today that wouldn't have been back then but Disney's hiring policies were pretty progressive back in those days. So it seems more likely that it was just the times rather than personal animosity towards Jews or other minorities on his part.
I could see him liking Beauty and the Beast as well.
Also college professors love shilling the meme. Actually had one that got super mad and dismissive when I brought up Floyd Norman's existence
He wouldn't have a problem with slapstick, alot of the old Donald Duck and even Mickey Mouse shorts had plenty of it.
Yeah its the pop song, contemporary society is far more liberal about sexuality then it is during Walt's time.
All yu have to do is point to his leaving the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals specifically because it was anti-semitic.
Seth McFarlane does seem to have a personal mission to force the general public to think Walt was the biggest jew hater this side of Nazi Germany.
Why s it his crusade to force that meme so badly?
Probably bitter that Disney didn't hire him.
Because he thinks it's funny
Literally McFarlane runs on toon logic. If he thinks it's funny, he thinks it should happen.
>Why s it his crusade to force that meme so badly?
Because he's an asshole. Plain and simple.
Might also be bitter at Dan Povermire, his best director, leaving for Disney to make a show fifty times better than he could ever hope to make.
Somewhere around season 3 Seth decided he was the sole voice of morality and justice in the world and then started using the show as a personal soapbox to preach his own special brand of morality to the general audience. It gets kind of creepy when he has something he really wants to hammer into the brains of viewers by having the characters look at the camera and just outright say it.
Approved: A bunch of Disney Reinassance stuff, Frozen, not sure how he would feel about Smash-it-Sam, i can definetly imagine him liking Zootopia and specially Rapunzel. He might Studio Ghibli too, specially since they use a bunch European-inspired architecture in their films which Disney was kind of a sucker for.
Disapproves:That cowardly chicken movie, Newsies, the fact that Disney doesn't use 2D , and of course the fact that all the CEOs at Disney's have a "strange" similarity.
It came from him inviting that Nazi film director chick, involvement with Right Wing anti communist organizations, and from his staff. It is belived that Art Babbitt, one of his greatest artists and creator of Goofy, also started the rumor, a lot of his staff did shit like that. Some because of vegence, others just for shits and giggles. It was Ward Kimball that started the rumor that Disney's frozen head is in Disneyland
How does he have so much notoriety as a nazi sympathizer when another capital of industry Henry Ford really was a huge antisemite who actually likes Hitler's ideas and continued loving them after the war was over?
Ford never gets any of the shit for hating jews when they actually did hate jews
>academics are supposed to be open to the truth.
>immediately start dismissing it as bullshit without even researching it.
Boy I sure love modern "education"
Fucking Family Guy man
Seconding this
Had a professor tell my class to avoid Big Hero 6 because it was made by Disney which is a fervently antisemitic company that should be forced out of business. The professor used to get pissed at students wearing shirts with the logo or characters.
He would stay Silent for a while then go work at Ghibli
I doubt he would have disapproved of CGI. People seem to forget that he was an innovator.
What he would have disapproved of is lazy CGI ignoring the principals of animation.
To be specific of what happened, his response was basically "Tokens don't count for anything" and said I might as well have brought up Walt's limo driver or some shit because that's how unimportant Floyd was or something.
>he thinks only nazis hate jews
>"Tokens don't count for anything"
Did anyone in the 1950's have/care about having a token black/gay/jewish/transpangender employee?
I thought that came about more recently
