Why does Sup Forums have such a hate boner for this movie? It looks great, Minions aside Illumination has done nothing but great stuff, yet Sup Forums acts like it's the next Sausage Party. What gives?

>Illumination has done nothing but great stuff

youtube.com/watch?v=vsevdTMBfC8

It's actually pretty simple.

1) It's not Zootopia. Sup Forums is full of Zootopiadrones who feel the need to shit on it because it has a city with humanized animals.

2) It's only featuring normie music. Not worrying about good songs, just stuff normies would know. Way to fucking normie.

>Why does Sup Forums have such a hate boner for this movie?
They don't

Stop your paranoia, every damn thread about this movie has been positive and ost are having good expectations for it.

Stop making threads with loaded questions.

>Hop
Godawful
>Secret Life of Pets
Frustratingly bland/insipid
>Every part of The Lorax not taken from the original book
Disgusting

Illumination is a shit studio even when you ignore their Minion flicks.

Despicable Me is great, fuck off.

It looks really generic.

It also doesn't help that the advertising is everywhere and inescapable. Its not as bad as afro circus but its prevalent.

The fuck are you all on?

Every thread Ihave seen about it has been positive.

OP's question is based on a false premise.

It's not Zootopia.

It does look great but it's written like the worst part of every Dreamworks and not-disney animation.

Trailer's pretty cringey. Think the only thing that can save it is the cast, and by that, I mean only McFarlane.

Mcconaughy seems really good as the Koala. Was surprised to see it was him at the end of the trailer, though now that I know I can tell.

But still, it's not just him talking into a microphone, he's actually "voice acting".

I haven't really seen much hate, just indifference or people thinking it could at least be decent.

WHY DO THEY NEED TO BE ANIMALS

The story feels like a few years too late. Who even cares about these singing shows any more?

why should we care about this american idol with furries shit?

That's the point

See, these are the buttmad Zootopia fags.

It looks like it's going to have fun bits. But even those fun bits are going to be animals dancing around to culturally relevant music.

The other two plots, which are probably going to dominate the movie, are both very tired. One is the story of the frustrated housewife who feels underappreciated and unfulfilled and she's going to have to deal with pressure from her family, especially her husband, to abandon this silly project so that she can continue cooking and cleaning. Fortunately, she will persist and by the end her husband will learn to appreciate her again, probably after convincing her to abandon this endeavor and then seeing how defeated she is in that moment.

The other plot, which is probably the main plot of the film, is a kid trying to decide between his family and his passion for music. This would be hard if he had an honest but judgemental working class family, but his father is a shit-licking bank robber who gets arrested at the beginning of the film, and probably convinces his son it's his fault somehow. The only thing actually holding the son to his horrible father is the fact that his father seems to be mob, not just a thief, and he'll probably make hints that his son would be beaten and killed if he doesn't help his father get out of prison.

So, that's why I don't want to see Sing.

Humans are boring. Kids don't want to see that. Plus them being animals gives you more jokes to work with, like a snail driving.

I want porn of the pig woman.

Because animal movies are popular right now and Sup Forums hates anything that normies like

> animal movies are popular right now

Animal movies have always been popular, the fuck are you talking about? People dislike Sing as it is now because the story is unoriginal and the film looks like a cheap vehicle to market music to the dumb masses. Haha, those bunnies are dancing to Anaconda, I remember that song. No different than Hotel Transylvania 2's obvious music insert scene or when people make fun of movies for product placement.

>at least decent.

Basically my thinking. It's non-offensive, and the characters look like they might be worth watching.

I might go on cheap night, once the Christmas/New Year brand of crazy dies down.

>the first thing I thought when seeing the gorillas in the trailer was that they were black people counterparts

I hate myself

>it looks great
>a movie jumping on a trend that was huge twenty years ago and has clearly tapered off

I don't think it will be bad, but it doesn't particularly stand out to me in any way yet. Just seems like it will be average.

Also most things dealing with pop-culture get a pretty shaky at best initial reaction, especially when most of the advertising revolves around this.

Alright you know what. That's a good point.

I only care about the slutty rabbits.

Cats Don't Dance already did the whole Animals overcoming big city racism thing.

Wasn't that the movie with not-Baby Doll?

You mean the Shirley Temple Analog? Yeah

This.

Let the hateful memes flow through you

rip my nigga harambe

>Minions aside Illumination has done nothing but great stuff

I hated Despicable Me 2 (the first one was good, though), and The Lorax is generally agreed to be a crappy adaptation of Seuss's book (outside of those weirdos who latched onto the Once-ler and ship him with alternate versions of himself, anyway).

>outside of those weirdos who latched onto the Once-ler and ship him with alternate versions of himself, anyway

I didn't want to remember this!

WHAT'S THAT I HEARD?

Madacascar 3 was probably the best one to me honestly. Though they really pushed this shit way too hard despite it not even being that prevalent in the movie.

>monkeys are stand in for black people.

how did they get away with it?

Because it's incredibly obvious that it's trying really hard to ride off the success of Zootopia while never really realizing why it was so popular, and instead of figuring out puns or an emotional edge or a deeper plot, it's just throwing whatever celebrities it can get its hands on and popular music.

It's gunna be shit, user.

I just hate that the singing seemed to be them playing the songs and the character lip syncing. What I heard was not the voice actor trying to sing. I guess Disney has gotten away with the singing voice not being the speaking voice, but they aren't usually a famous singer who is singing a normie song they are famous for and everyone recognizes. Seeing the animals sing pop songs with the actual voices of the pop singer ruins it for me. Even the ending of Shrek where they all have a dance party had the decency to let Eddie Murphy sing the song.

King Gorilla is getting his own movie?

They made them british so it smokescreens it

>it's trying really hard to ride off the success of Zootopia

The movie started production before Zootopia was announced, let alone released. You seem to vastly underestimate the time it takes to make these movies.

I laughed my ass off when I saw the trailer for this in theaters since I hadn't seen anything about it before then

I want to know how this was allowed to happen in THE CURRENT YEAR of chimpouts and racism

>Minions aside Illumination has done nothing but great stuff

No they haven't. They really, really haven't.

I'll never be able to think about that movie without remembering the Lorax car commercial

NOBODY saw an issue with this in the planning stages

>I am the Lorax, I speak for the woods! Though I plaster my likeness, on consumer goods!

I don't have high hopes for this. It might be decent, but I haven't been impressed with a majority of the studio's work. It has nothing to do with Zootopia.

It might have something to do with Seth MacFarlane's voice work.

Even if he did a good job with Hellboy 2

Agreed, we don't need to be reminded of THOSE days.

Their voices are white as fuck, though. Especially the main gorilla.

MacFarlane is a good singer though, so this part is probably perfect for him.

It looks interesting to me, with the only thing I'm not really liking from the trailers has been the rabbits. I really want to know what Scarlett Johansson's character sings, though.

This. I genuinely want to know more about gorilla dude and pig mom. I can see this being the kind of movie where the plot is boring and predictable, but certain characters stand out and make it watchable.

Shit, that's something I had forgotten about.

youtube.com/watch?v=V1ibms88GBQ

The cats in this commercial are cringey as fuck. Maybe I just REALLY hate panic at the disco

>muh Zootopia
>muh popular normie music

Yep, like everyones been saying, it's Disneydrones.

>sing has ugly ass rabbits
"THEY'RE JUST MAKING THEM LOOK REALISTIC STFU"
>sing has ugly ass weird faced cats
"THEY'RE JUST MAKING THEM CARTOONY STFU"

>mad zootopia bunynwaifu fag

lmfao, pathetic

Nigga I didn't even like zootopia, Judy was such a Mary Sue and they should have just used the original concept. As is the racism metaphor is forced and inconsistent.

I just point out shitty animation when I see it.

>shitty

Cartoons can emphasis both the ugly realism of animals and the cute attributed mannerism at the same time.

You're literally mad over the female bunnies, lmfao

Shit, I can't argue with those numbers.

Real rabbits are adorable.

There's no reason for it to star animals.

>american idol with animals with the "we gotta save the (insert emotionally valuable institution that can't survive on it's own)

>African-American is a gorilla
>Gorilla father is a criminal
Someone, somewhere is going to be very angry at this film.

>Why does Sup Forums have such a hate boner for this movie?
Since when? From day 1 I thought it looked, at least, decent, and just from a pig waifu and a porcupine "waifu" I figured it'd have plenty of talk here.

>Why does Sup Forums have such a hate boner for this movie?
What are you talking about? Saying that it looks like bland shit isn't a hateboner. And lots of people haven't even said that.

>the racism metaphor is forced and inconsistent
It's called an allegory and unlike a metaphor it does not need to directly translate in 1to1 basis. It has been used in fables literally for ages. It makes the story deeper than "foxes/rabbits/sheep are meant to represent blacks", because instead of making direct links to the real world, it makes you focus on the actual theme (prejudice) instead.

In other words, you're an idiot.

Only people that has enough emotion to hate this movie are the Zootopia fags threatened that this movie may be carried by meme magic to knock Zootopia down. Not off its thrown, but down a peg.

At worst, it'd be the new Minions..

>Trips
>Keks
Double points.

>again with antagonizing Zootopia fans
Dude, Zootopia is Gisnep's best critically acclaimed movie in their animation studio's history and second highest grossing movie (animated or otherwise) EVER that's not an adaptation of a previosly existing story or either a sequel or a spin-off. Nobody who likes Zootopia considers Sing a "threat" to their favorite film. It won't magically make a great movie worse by proxy.

This said, Sing looks really mediocre. Nobody sane would be mad if it turned out to be good, though.

Pig milf is pretty cute.

I don't know how on earth they managed to make a punchable gorilla

But fuck me if they didn't

>BOY, YOU BETTER ABANDON THIS STUDIO SINGING DREAM AND GET ME OUT OF THIS PRISION OR YOU'LL END UP LIKE YOUR COUSIN HARAMBE!
Really, did you need to put that in there illumination?

I could watch this all day.

Wait did they actually fucking say that?

I want to fuck the brown one.

Of course not

truly a dark time

>not all three

>three?

>Anaconda
user...
youtube.com/watch?v=_JphDdGV2TU

Sir Mix-A-Lot was the voice of a generation.

Thirty years ago.

You can't expect kids, today, to get it.

OH
MY
GOD

It's a singing contest parody about 10 years to late with lifts of songs

I'm looking forward to it, it's killing me not knowing what the pig sounds like when she sings.

The third one is offscreen in the webm because whoever made it focused on the bunny butt, most likely to make it loop better

>It's not Zootopia.
this, furfags hate finding dory and moana.

I'm just waiting for porn

>organized criminals, not gangs or street mobs
>niggers
Ye, nah.

It paints black Australians as criminals

>Minions aside Illumination has done nothing but great stuff

Fuck you, The Lorax is a plague upon this earth

Is it really that hard to slightly edit that bunny model to make a completely different character instead of simply color swapping?
Hell if Incredibles can make hundreds of characters out of a couple models in pre 2004, surely they can in 2016

>One of the scenes in the movie has the Lorax being unwillingly used for the Onceler's ad campaign
>IRL we have the Lorax as part of an ad campaign

2012 was a weird time.

I have to admit that as a Foreman grill I enjoyed it due to the Onceler craze. Those were cringeworthy times, but at the same time they were just silly fun, and I was never one of the creeps that forced Onceler shit onto other people.

>One of the main characters is a young gorilla trying to break away from cultural/family deadweights and do something better with his life than be a criminal like his dad.
>You literally cannot make this film with a black kid.

It's just not allowed any more, user.

Who do you think will end up winning the prize? I'm rooting for British Harambe with all my heart.

>Zootopia is Gisnep's best critically acclaimed movie in their animation studio's history
Only because of its OVERLY preachy hamfisted moral
Critics love shit like that, Personally, the story was the worst part of the movie, but I loved everything else.

I dont get this Sing/Zootopia rivalry, all I see is two potentially great cakes in a really furry year

>Even the ending of Shrek where they all have a dance party had the decency to let Eddie Murphy sing the song.

Yeah, but we all know that Eddie is a musical genius.

>youtube.com/watch?v=iWa-6g-TbgI

Same, but i wouldn't mind if the winner is someone completely out of left field
