I don't think there's any better flag out there for the country at the moment, honestly.
Red refers to the Fatimids, white to the Umayyads, and black to the Abbasids, apparently.
Also discovered the scissors actually refer to Ali's sword. Pretty cool concept.
I fully and proudly identify as berber! Berber national sentiment has been rising in the last decade, and tamazight is now one of the countries' official languages and is soon gonna be taught in schools.
I love Moroccan history, honestly. I wish we were taught about recent history in school, though, including the french protectorate and the events leading to the independence. (seriously, reading up on how the various pro-independence groups operated is really interesting. The istiqlal party used to make people look at pictures of Mohammed V, the king at the time, and then to quickly look at the moon. Classic optical illusion, but it spread wild rumors that the king's face appeared on the moon in order to drive up national sentiment while the royal family was being deported by the french to Madagascar.)
