The place has been run down and steven is in a high level of depression ever since the CGs all got shattered in a battle with the diamonds and only peridot and him survived, they both try and act like it never happened and keep going through a "Fifty First Dates" scenario where they can't come to terms with their world without the CGs. Steven has been stuck in his boyish mind for 30 years now, not being able to age a day, while Connie has left and made a family of her own. Peridot stays with Steven, both thinking that the Gems will one day come through the warp pad, but they never do, they go to sleep and repeat the day again. withing the years they have sat and waited, Greg has passed, the house is crumbling, and now they have no one, no one, but each other and the hope that The Gems, might one day, come back.
