Is "working hard" just a meme?

Is "working hard" just a meme?

Work smart, not hard.

Yes hard work is a fucking meme. Cheat to get ahead faggot, honesty is overrated.

being homeless is a meme son. It doesn't exist. You're free. You just have to step outside and live life. Take no thought for the morrow.

How does one work smarter? Is that something genetic?

Yes. To a certain extent. If you're in the right field or have the right education: you can make easy money. But any of the arts subjects that don't have marketable value are useless.

Here in Australia, plumbers can make in the hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Plumbers.

But there are probably millions with non-marketable education.

Taking smart drugs probably but genetics play a role definitely.

What this guy said

Hard work got you places a century ago

In the modern world the chumps and doormats work a hard 'honest days work'

Neo crony-capitalism post modern Society is 99.99% about the class youre born into.

>Get a PhD in something irrelevant
>Be in debt
>Can't get a good job

vs
>Get a practical degree/ learn a trade
>get a good job
>live a comfortable life

The problem with these retards is that they fail to realize the difference between a career and a hobby.

how the fuck is this possible, as a phd i was first or co-author on six papers in my first year. what was this guy doing?

>Observe world
>Find what people want
>Find out how to contribute to making things people want
>Try to get into making things people want while doing thing you are good at
>Make moniez

>not being a NEET
wtf is wrong with you my racial kinsmen.

Maybe he has degrees in gender studies

>6 papers
>3 postdocs on top of the PhD
I have 3 published with 2 years left in the PhD. Step up nigga, no wonder nobody wants you.

Absolutely disgusting. That picture should never happen. Inb4 fake inb4 secret crackhead-savant

basically this.

Don't be a moron and get a phd in some useless field. The guy is OP's pic probably has a phd in philosophy or some shit. People who get rich recognize trends early and take risks. For example, whoever bought stock in apple in the 70s was working smart, not hard.

he finished 3 postdocs and only published 6 papers? Dude is a failed academic! ABP NIGGA... should of had at least a few publications by the time he was done with is Doctorate.

>6 papers only

Outside of academia, a PhD (even in STEM) is completely unnecessary for 95% of jobs. If you're going the PhD route, you need to have a fucking career plan in place otherwise you're taking on debt for no reason at all.

This, also people just make horrible life decisions and blame capitalism or rich people for their shitty life. I just had a co-worker quit his job in the absolute worst way possible. He has a kid and now no job, and no reference. This is the kind of shit that sends people to the poorhouse.

asian americans make 10k on average more than white americans.

>choosing to go to college when you can just stay at home and draw furry porn commissions while collecting disability for your autism
How can STEM majors possibly compete?

he published papers and cant get a job? hes not trying hard enough. or published bullshit papers.

Universities are full with scams.

The reason there are "Phds that work in mcdonalds" is because scam artists and charlatans have infected academia and are teaching courses that don't lead to jobs.

I just finished my postdoc and I'm still waiting for my PhD advisor to publish my second and third papers. My first paper from my postdoc is still under review.
If your advisors are lazy fucking shits (or incredibly busy with large research groups) there's really nothing you can do.
Also area of study plays a role, some publish more than others.

tl;dr don't choose shitty advisors you will regret it

I predict someone will reply and say I'm completely wrong and you can publish on your own or something but I've never seen that.

>>>/oven/

Unfortunately there's an "art" to every job, so automation is really just for the repetitive bullshit which is an art in and of it self.

Look, I'm trying to make sense here but on one side you can get McD's drop shipped delivered by drone using your phone... on the flip side that burger is gonna taste the same every time.

You want a good burger you go to a place where the burger is cooked by professionals who make a living making custom burgers all the time. Might be expensive, but you're not paying for the burger, you're paying for the experience.

Working hard and working smart are not mutually exclusive, especially today, you kinda have to balance both. In my experience it feels more valuable to take what you do solely for enjoyment and find out how you can make a living with doing that, which may be difficult but will always be worth it.

Don't worry about the money aspect, just worry about doing what you enjoy, and make sure its something you enjoy getting better at. There's now money, and then there's future money.

We can get so caught up paying these recurring bills that we forget there is even a life to live so we make it our main objective to remain content with meeting only our immediate obligations. Don't lose sight of what use to make you happy, chances are it can still make you happy.

If it doesn't and there is nothing in this world that makes you happy, capitalize on the cynicism... or not, it really doesn't make a difference to me.

Work smarter no harder lazy faggot

>6 papers for the amount of time he spent in research...
>3 minimum for his PhD
>1 for each postdoc probably

yeah, that guy fucked up somehow

Seriously lazy. I've co-authored 6 papers and I don't even have any kind of degree.

Of course, I haven't read any of those papers either. Been too busy building the things everyone wants to write papers about.

>doing a PhD that doesn't pay you to be there.

I don't understand. Am I missing something?

Without specifying your exact field, saying "I published X papers by the time I got my PhD!" really doesn't mean anything.

Some fields publish constantly, some don't. Some have average PhD periods of 6 years, some of like 10.

In fairness, a PhD in gender studies with a minor in Ebonics is not a super marketable resume for a white male. Having done post docs on feminist history, African basket weaving, and dance therapy then publishing six papers on white privilege probably helps but not much...

This is correct, I am a chem E and I know that chemistry students publish far more.
But it definitely depends on the advisor and the size of the group.

What did that guy get his PHDs and Doctorates in, because if he got his shit in useless and can't apply himself to get a job then his effort was wasted.

Effort does not equal value.

The truth of the matter is that working arbitrarily hard won't make you rich.

You have to work hard towards obtaining a career that will be rewarding monetarily.

The reason a poor sod who breaks his back on the line every day dies a blue collar man is because anyone can work the line, and you're not worth anything more than you're paid, because there's always someone willing to do what you can do for less.

You have to work hard to make yourself worth more, either by obtaining a desirable skill or working in a necessary field where you can dictate your wage.

Take Garbage Truck drivers, they get paid $20 dollars an hour, because people are willing to pay to get their trash taken away.

Suffice it to say that while working hard may be admirable, it does not translate into moneys.

>The problem with these retards is that they fail to realize the difference between a career and a hobby.
This

>claims to have PhD
>doesn't know holding a cardboard is an inefficient way to get a job

Oookkay business satan, relax a little.

>but for real tho
>working hard
>aint enough
>anymore
>thanks old people

this

Nicee...
And this is why canada is now overrun.

Btw, yall up there are fuggin retarded too so dont go blaming the work for your own dumb fuckery.

It's different for different fields m8.
I finished my PhD with 0 papers. Most anyone in my office had got by their viva was 2, and that was considered exceptional (for nuclear physics)

Working hard matters just not as much as the decisions you make. More specifically it matters when you put in the effort to work hard, it's better to put that in at the start of your career/education because that has the biggest influence on the outcome in later life.

Take STEM or law in uni, put effort it, network with people, read some economics/capitalism books to understand how you can start to create value for other people and earn some decent money. Always be learning something new and always be aiming for your bosses position, if you're not learning what your boss does day to day then you're standing still.

Progression up the corporate ladder is super easy for moderately smart people but you need to be motivated, no one goes up it with any speed unless they're aggressive and work hard, so it's not a total meme.

this

Best advice in thread.

More like a scam.

Hard work is the crutch of talentless people.

Too bad they can't take out a student loan for food/rent until they find a job.
Surprised that's not a thing yet. You'd think the merchant would want the debt to be even deeper and deeper.

No, hardwork is the armor of the noble

I know a very low iq faggots says this all the time

He thinks he is outsmarting his university teachers by handing in a paper that was written by a pajeet he hired

"i worked smarter than all of you"

Little does he know I already tipped off his evaluator

So smart!

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned already in this thread. But the OP guy is retarded, or unintelligent to put it a more polite way. He has acquired knowledge and probably an inflated ego to go with it, but he lacks intelligence.

He did a stupid thing, he put no thought into his education, he did it just because he was told to probably, or just because 'thats what everyone else does'. Yet again, he is putting people off by being arrogant on his sign. If he really was so desperate for food as to bed in the street, he should use a more sociable and inviting advert.

That's not working smarter, that's buying your way to success.

Don't be silly goy, we'd actually be giving them something tangible and of value if we did that

Well whats the difference really? cheating is cheating and it comes in many forms..

He bought his way to a lesson my friend; shut your fucking mouth if you´re going to cheat.

Seems appropriate for a guy who never had to do anything by himself in his easy life.

What a gullible faggot.

>he will never be able to re-enter any danish university after this

Honestly I have rustled someones jimmies hard this time.

he should have taken education too instead of so many degrees it would guarantee work

That's actually pretty glorious. Well done, danon

It's pretty sad that I make more than this cuck and I work at walmart. It's also a bit enraging that he more than likely didn't pay cash for college and my tax dollars are supporting him.

PhD in what? Sociology? Fuck off.
Nobody is entitled to a job if they take a small loan of $100k for a degree. A person that works hard in smashing rocks on asphalt to make it straight when there are road rollers is retarded, not a hard worker. Analyze the demand in the job market and send all the 3rd world shitskins back if you want a job.

There's literally so many options for people without jobs to make money if they weren't afraid of hard labor or the label of having an undesirable job
>enlist in military, guaranteed a roof over your head, three meals a day and some adequate spending money
>work on a crabbing boat where entry level positions make 20k plus for like 3 months at sea

>get PhD in meme field
>whine when you can't get a job
laughable
t. physics professor
