Germans were called huns as a slur by Britain during world war 1 and 2 to associate Germans with the Huns and paint them as mad rage filled barbarians that want to destroy civilization. There was and is very little reality in the association, it was mostly based on the fact Germans user spiked helmets similar to the ones used by the Huns.
