I usually HATE seafood, I've never enjoyed any regular fish I've eaten, but I recently ate fried calamari for the first time and it was amazing.

Americans don't really eat octopus. Some will get it from sushi places, that's probably the most common way its had here. Tako-su or just in our maki.
Some Mediterranean places will sell it, but there's not many of those and octopus isn't a big seller.
I usually buy mine from a little Portuguese deli, I get it frozen though, no fresh octopus near me that I know of. I fucking love octopus, have to try some in the big cephalopod countries sometime.
