My grandfather was born in 1938 in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia,but for most of his life he lived in Communist Yugoslavia,he was born in a small village in Dalmatia,dirt poor,his father passed away when he was 15 and left him to take care of his mother and sister.
So the definition of poor.Still he hates communism to this very day.
The members of the communist party in Yugoslavia lived better than everyone else.
