My parents never took me to church except on christmas and easter sometimes. If I asked them if they believed in god they would answer with something like, "I guess", or "I believe in something like god".

Any curiosity I had about the world was better fulfilled with science than religion and I didn't need god to help me overcome any emotional or 'spiritual' hardships. So why should I believe in god?

Internet gave us much easier access to information. Now any average Joe can do a quick Google search and begin having doubts confirmed. Before, you'd actually have to make an effort to sit your ass down in a library.

I spent 7 years of my childhood in a Church of England primary school. When you're having religion crammed down your throat every fucking morning, what do you think's going to happen? Every kid is going to walk out of that school a model Christian? Dream on.

Just before I left that school (this was 8-9 years ago) a wacky guy started as headteacher. He tried to inject a little bit of contrived fun into the morning assembly and prayer, but at the end of the day all it made him look like was a flamboyant, patronising arsehole.
