The abbreviation of advertisement is ad

>the abbreviation of advertisement is ad
>brits say advert
>the abbreviation of mathematics is math
>brits say maths
>the abbreviation of Air Conditioning is A.C.
>brits say air con
>the abbrevation of television is t.v.
>britis say tele
why do brits always half-abbreviate things? I don't think I've ever even heard a brit say advertisement or ad before.

the abbreviation of your dick is what you should be worrying about

...

Because sentences flow more nicely when you say 'tele' instead of 't.v', 'maths' instead of 'math', etc.

maths is correct. it's 'mathmatics' not 'mathmatic'

yeah but mathematics isn't plural, ergo the 's' isn't needed in the abbreviation.

look at the etymology, the word mathematics is plural

it comes from mathematica, where it is plural, so the 's' was added as an artifact of translation, but it's used as singular.
i.e. The mathematics of engineering is hard. Not are hard.

Do you also say physic instead of physics?

So you say chemistrys and biologies instead too?

Perso I say chemisterisationnement and biologiquamentisensus/aris.

>Yank attempting to tell us how to speak

Laughable

I'm just trying to understand why. Is the reason?

Maybe you English-speaking guys pronounce words differently, with different tonalities and tonic accents, which means that some words are better for UK English speakers, other for Australians, ...etc.

Better = easier to pronounce*

Maybe, that would be really hard to quantify though.
It just seemed odd to me that they half-abbreviate everything.

This is why russian is much better

>the abbreviation of Unites States is US
>everyone say mutts

"Maths" is the most retarded shit that those dumb Angl*s convinced themselves is correct.

>This is why russian is much better
How?

How'd you say math(s)s then ?

this

They invented their own language, something that you cannot grasp

Abreivations are way more jolty when you say them than shortened slang.
Fuck me Americans love their abreivations though

OK, how do you say it in your superior language, then?

Matematyka.
