Theoretically, if Sup Forums were to design an RTS based on the state of the world right niw, what would be your top ten factions?

Here's a start: Empire of Cucks. Base territory consists of the US West coast and all of Canuckistan, save for Quebec and Eskimos. Units are primarily SJW in nature.

Some of them are spics and some are african. I guess they could be a sub-faction that can be summoned, ie cartels summon a swarm of mexican border hoppers, ISIS summons a herd of rapefugees.

Refugees automatically spawn from destroyed settlements and their allegiance is determined by the demographics of the area

I see where you're going with that, but fighting the rapefugee problem is nearly like fighting an entire war itself. They could exist in a form like natural disasters? Could work in something like how if ISIS/Caliphate destroys too many temples to baal they get rekt by storms.

When you fight rapefugees, you have to turtle up, fortify, BUILD WALLS, etc.

The God Emperor would be a legendary class unit who can instantly deploy an invincible wall that lasts for 120 seconds. God, the soundbites from him alone would be amazing.

Oh shit, this could be the support structure for the SJW faction. Instead of airstrikes, they call in weaponized Amazon delivery drones, use google to geo-track your units location, use twitter to bomb your commo systems and dox your units, etc.

You could have a mechanic where your 'special' units are disguised as regular units until they reveal their power level and become larger targets for the enemy, and the doxing mechanic reveals them ahead of time.

Some of these techniques would also be usable by the Alt-Right faction.

Now, imagine that the unit is an armored hybrid car, and there are nu-males in gimp suits strapped all over the sides and hood.

Other SJW units:

Cucks. The worker bee class. These generously hipped, soft featured """men""" function as resource gatherers and healers. They have a basic upgrade path from 'hipster students' to 'nu-male' to full on 'cuck' status, although most players will find the best payoff is to level them to 'nu-male' and keep them there as cucks present more positives and negatives that make them less of an all-around support unit, a role filled by nu-males. They also may choose to take the 'lumbersexual' upgrade path, leveling their 'hipster students' into 'beardos' and then 'lumbersexuals'- although they still won't have much outdoor or technical or mechanical abilities, and hurt themselves with their own chainsaws as much as they hurt the enemy. Still, not too shabby for a low health worker unit.

Cuck class nu-males can be linked to other SJW units and absorb damage that would be dealt to the other unit, even dying in the process. So that suicide prius (an upgrade from the suicide hoverboards with shitty chinese batteries) might not even kill the Freebleeder when she detonates and takes out your border control checkpoint

If you get your KEK temple built and raise your meme magic level, random soldiers will identify as Apache Helicopters when confronted with SJWs (or other enemies, but the chance of realizing that they were supposed to be born with 30 mm cannons and AMG-114 Hellfire missiles is much much higher when confronting SJWs) and

Irl no Nod, not enough people cling to a certain ideology (that isn't a religion). You'd have poos and pakis, since they are both nuclear. Israel is one as well, but they would likely fall under a US led NATO, think GDI. Iran, Best Korea, Russia, also. Sweden would team up with Somalia and maybe a Balkans alliance or non-EU eastern Europe coalition.

After ISIS attacks the Vatican and kills the pope, the Cartels unilaterally invade the middle east for revenge. Together, the new reconquista and the new crusade work to purge the Old World, for the glory of the New.

Although Cartels and Fashy Goys may not always work together, they share a support system, the Russian air force.

The New Crusade's ultimate enemy is the Mudbeard Degeneracy. Much like with the Cartels and Fashy Goys, the SJWs and Mudbeards don't necessarily get along with each other, but each exploits the other, one for virtue signalling and false moral superiority, the other for access, logistical support, and gibsmedats.

There's room for another 'support structure' or two, and more factions, but you can see how I diagrammed it out.

I think ideological groups would be the best. Depending on how good writer you are on top of anything else, aspiring to level of such cult classics as Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri could do you good.

Stereotypes of most sociopolitical systems together with some sci-fi groups based upon semi-mystical ideologies or worldviews together with a few other factions differentiated by approach toward their environment (survivalists, ecologists etc).

Really, OP, you kinda fucked up - you should tell us more about the setting, the themes, intended gameplay, depth of different mechanics and features. No point about going with philosophy or sociology, for example, if your RTS will be just pumping little units shooting each other.

how about a warlord who actually has ambitions to do so he gets his support from corporations because he keeps the resources flowing in exchange for weapons and supplies but part way through the campaign double crosses them once he amasses a strong enough power base

Gameplay first, build the story around that. I'm focusing on what our factions and units are.

I've got a few story drafts down on 'paper' though.

Aryan Brotherhood. have a foothold in around 15 countries and are in charge of 2 and second in charge of 2 more.

Warsaw Union - Eastern Europe and Russia
Oriental Conglomerate - Asia and Far East
Identiare Europa - Underground far right 'terrorist' organization - working across the globe like the brotherhood of nod. Primary in occupied Europe.
Caliphate - Middle Eastern / Indian Faction
Cartel - South America
United World Order - America & Annexed Canada - Parts of Europe
Chosen Ones - Israel, expanded into parts of Africa and Europe

Factions should be divided by god

i'd like to see a grand strategy game (HOI4, stellaris, EU) based on this scenario:

the federal government gets so bankrupt (suspend your disbelief for a bit friends) that they are forced to sell all assets to the 50 states in exchange for being able to maintain their nuclear arsenal

each of the 50 states starts out differently, but with their own balancing acts; california is the soviet union of this game, they start with insane resources, production, and manpower but their state unity is dreadfully low and they start with an abysmal conscription law/their 'militia' units are weak as hell

whereas alabama would start with low resources, but a high state unity and their militia units are capable of fighting very well and are even better at entrenching themselves

But without story you cannot get any proper faction, since factions are based on fluff. Otherwise, if you have no coherent setting and themes planned, these suggestions are literally as good as any others:

3. Justin Bieber fans,
4. Syberian victorian reenactors
5. Basement mold cultivators
6. Ice cream producers from Egypt
7. League of owners of fancy flower pots
8. Tobacco and pistachio amateurs

10. People liking wearing blue trousers

all of these group fit your vague "state of the world right now" but i doubt it's what you're looking for (even if it'd make pretty awesome RTS to play when one's high/drunk).

Caliphate: uses radicalization and fear tactics to force attacks / lower productivity on civilian production buildings. Uses cheap African and Indian infantry to swarm enemies. Using poor equipment and training. Lots of dirty weapons, car bombs etc. Cheap outdated equipment and a large amount of light artillery (mortors etc). Suffers late game in direct combat but through uses of land mines etc, can win by attrition.

Why not create a Fallout New Vegas style first person RPG which will be set in the middle East? Think about it, your character will be dropped in the conflict the Levant where many factions fight each other, such as ISIS, rebels, Kurds, Assad, crumbling Iraq, and many others come along with their own agenda such as US, Russia, Turkey, Saudis, Israel, Iran and more. You can join any of the factions, thus making some of the others hunt you, you could visit famous cities and areas like Aleppo, Baghdad, Golan Heights, Qatar, Damascus and many others.

Chosen Ones - Defensive faction. Uses large amounts of emplacements, and defensive structures. Progressively takes land and creeps across the land scape. Certain emplacements have high upkeep - however, using spies and other informants they can embezzle money or initiate fraud / propaganda in order to cripple the enemy and support their own finances. Their ground forces are primarily made up of expensive mercenaries. When deploying Chosen One troops they take major morale hits on loss. Retreating back to their holdings and then striking again or with artillery from behind their walls. Their tech tree increases at an increase rate via spies when their enemies does.

Black America (poor equipment and undisciplined, but large numbers (horde black thugs led by college liberal masters))

Swedish Feminist Caliphate (mid-tier equipment and fanatical devotion to feminist islam but poor tactics)

European Nationalist Militias (mid-tier equipment but high morale and superior tactics)

New Russian Empire (mid-tier equipment but cheap and reliable troops)

America First Movement (high-tier equipment and superior military training but expensive units make deployment of large forces difficult)

British Commonwealth (high-tier equipment and strong air force and navy but mediocre ground forces)

Polish-Hungarian Empire (mid-tier equipment backed up by super units like Polish stealth tanks and spooky Hungarian defensive walls)

An RTS? Then I'd suggest four sides; Freedom Fighters (Pro-Freedom of Speech, comprised of historical pro-freedom figures), Cuck states (Germany, Sweden, Norway, etc.), Literal Social Justice Warriors (Massive female whales with rocket launchers, workers that complain instead of harvesting minerals) and ISIS (every unit is a suicide bomber).

Identiare Europa - Like another user said, focuses on Cyber Warfare. Soldiers are former veterans and survivors of the European Collapse. Does not have access to much armor late game, but can remotely hack vehicles. Soldiers are augmented but have heavy costs. Early game focuses on specialized guerrilla tactics and focused attacks. A lot of high tech gadgetry. Late game they can obtain 'Awakening' which opens up some standard vehicles and reduces the costs of their soldiers. The vehicles they do have mid game would be similar to stealth tanks. Have access to specialized helicopters

Only if cuck states get malus to every stat except number of units and speed of their production. Also, their units have a small chance of blowing their own facilities in protest against patriarchy or for allah.

United World Order - High tech, but requires a long time to develop. Suffers from diversity destabilization. Soldiers are well trained but suffer from low morale - until 're-education' and other techs are researched. Soldiers and vehicles will beat other factions toe to toe, but will suffer with attrition. Warsaw would be them in a straight fight. Can increase taxation with economic increase but a penalty to morale / corruption actions. Focuses on aircraft (bombers, etc) but is generally well rounded. Your generic faction.

Social Justice Faction

General Units:

Debatant (Melee unit that blocks attacks quite decently with a wall of text)
Preacher (Ranged unit who shocks enemy units with a megaphone and well written arguments)
Flamer (Cheap unit that confuses the enemy with a flurry of truth)
Researcher (A worker unit that harvests the information resource)
Converters (Converts lowly enemy units and heals friendly units)
Attack Helicopter (Yes)

Buildings:
Social Media Office (Used to spawn converters and some other special units)
Think Tank (Used to spawn debatants and preachers)
Image Board (Used to spawn flamers and demoralize the enemy)

Special units:
Youtuber (A powerhouse that may single-handedly kill 10-20 units)
Caricature Artist (Causes a massive debuff to enemies around the unit)
Triggerer (A mass stunner and silencer)

Cartel - Corruption faction. Does not generate income the regular way. Base is mobile, random 'drug' shipments are dropped around the map. They have to move to the locations and claim them. There are also other areas they can farm (which degenerate fast) with their mobile base for income. They can corrupt enemy buildings in order to lower production or take a 'cut' from every unit produced. Troops require a large amount of micro as they are decently equipped but suffer from withdrawals. 'Narco' troops can be induced into drug frenzies but crash hard. Vehicles are weak, but can salvage enemy vehicles for upgrades.

>Media allies must pick one of three sponsors at the beginning of the game for ad revenue to generate resources. Each of the sponsors also confers a bonus: increased defense, faster mind control, or increased range for units.
>Defensive structures have ads plastered over them which slowly generates money for the player.

Oriental Conglomerate - Focuses on production of medium vehicles. Mechanized faction. Expands fast early game to get as many resources as possible and then builds infrastructure.. Can use 'currency manipulation' for different effects throughout the game. Tech tree is limited - but late game they have heavy vehicle spam. Early game they focus on cheap infantry. They can build massive tunnel networks to get around the map, using high speed trains.

Also the Identiare Europe faction would also have access to satellite drops and 'sleeper cells' late game.

Thanks, the main issue I found is trying to make the factions unique and different at different stages of the game. Struggled with some of them though. So any ideas would be great.
