Guns are WAY louder than most people probably realize if you’ve never been near live rounds before. You are likely to be stunned for a few seconds is somebody unexpectedly fires shots around you, so it’s diligent to prepare people for this.

There was a resource officer a few years ago in my school system, who pulled a taser on two people who were fighting, never even fired. But it started a huge scandal and he almost lost his job.
