yes

EU has the most potential for good, despite some of the trashier members that plan on leaving. US has potential, but it's dormant and covered in the shit of neoconservativism right now. China really can't do any good at all until the current government is overthrown.

gee what did we do to you?

Russia

Xi is OK has far as autocrats go. The guys he purged were way corrupt. His family was trashed by the communist party, so he is very keen on changing the system.

I'm waiting to see how this NK thing plays out, and if Xi will take China on a less confrontational direction with the South China Sea thing and such.

China or usa

The good guys of course. EU

I choose the US because It's better to eat a sugar-coated turd than a salted-one

Why does he look lioe hes ordering an execution?

Maybe it's a foretaste for whats to come

>invade nation despite having zero right or justification for doing so
>level every city and kill thousands upon thousands of civilians
>this causes dozens of islamic militia groups to start organizing
>wonder why these people won't bow to your imperialistic mass-murdering "democracy" so you kill more of them and try to forcefully implement your political system into a completely foreign culture
>repeat this process a few more times in other countries with unsurprisingly little effect, still consider it a "victory" because at least you mass-murdered those damn muslims and established control of the oil market (which was the goal from the start but americans will gladly lie through their teeth to make you believe otherwise)
>millions of them are forced to relocate to europe
>now feeling nothing but hatred for the western world due to the actions of the USA, they proceed to commit increasingly more brutal mass murders against europeans

America is a demonic mass-murdering capitalist empire built entirely on murdering people for the sake of resources. I sincerely hope that the USA gets fucking destroyed and every American who took part in ruining this world suffer a painful death, americans are nothing but greedy christian psychopaths who literally destroy everything they come in contact with.

This

In the absence of an American military adventures in the Middle East, there would be a European and/or Asian power exerting military force there regardless. Americans don't really need the ME for our own oil consumption anymore. To the extent that we're still there, it's mostly to control the flow of oil to our allies and trade partners.

Assume the trend of American isolationism continues. How do you envision a hypothetical EU or Asian superpower acting in the Middle East? Not intervening militarily to keep the spice flowing? Calling the Arabs and Iranians on the phone and asking very very very nicely? What about when the proxy war between the Iranians and Saudis becomes a full-scale open war? What about when either side starts mining the Strait of Hormuz, the Asians wont send naval vessels to keep the oil tankers safe, and keep their lights on at home?

Agreed. It's truly the Great Satan and the sooner it's neutered the sooner we will live in a harmonious world.

The poorupean poonion isn't a superpower

>Superpower
Technically a superpower is a country who can act and have effective military capabilities globally.

China has yet to reach this status.

The EU has some global reach.

The US has spent the past 73 years setting up the world so it can have effective military capabilities globally.

>a fundamental characteristic that is consistent with all definitions of a superpower is a nation or state that has mastered the seven dimensions of state power: geography, population, economy, resources, military, diplomacy and national identity.
> "a superpower must be able to conduct a global strategy including the possibility of destroying the world; to command vast economic potential and influence; and to present a universal ideology"
> "A superpower must be able to project its power, soft and hard, globally."

China has yet to reach Superpower status, as it hasnt overcome and mastered geography (still relies on the water for their 3 largest rivers to come from another country, and has neighbors they've failed to conquer or persuade to their side), population (Ageing population that even after the removal of the one child policy, birth rates still continue to drop), resources (relies heavily on imported alloys and minerals from other countries) or military (Has no power projection beyond their own backyard and their sole and only aircraft carrier is a second hand knockoff from a Ukrainian rust yard.

Europe's dream of becoming a superpower is unrealistic. They fail in terms of mastering geography, population, military and national identity. And without US protection, would fail in almost all fields due to falling back into the clusterfuck of balances and power struggles reminiscent of the 18th century.

In related news, China's economy is about to overtake the EU's...

The US clearly does not fulfill those three requirements anymore.

>present a universal ideology
Ummm what? We have no such thing nor do we even promote democracy or human rights anymore. Obama and Trump don’t care about that.

>still relies on the water for their 3 largest rivers to come from another country

Your entire post is now discredited. Not one drop of the Yellow, Yangtze, or Pearl rivers comes from another nation.

Good try though!

Wait, isn't their per capita GDP like $8300?

China is a not a real superpower, at best a regional power. Why? In order to be a superpower, a nation requires four things. These are economic, military, diplomatic, and cultural strength.

As it were, China has some of 1, a little of 2, not much of 3, and absolutely jack-all of 4.

The USSR of the 1980s had military and diplomatic pull, but not economic or cultural strength. Japan in the 80s had economic strength, none of the other three categories.

At present, nobody but the United States can say it meets all four of these conditions.

It should be around $9200 this year nominal not PPP which is obviously much higher

Shareblue plz go.

I'd argue they had the latter two as well, even if weak the SU economy was decent enough to maintain the output they did have and cultural wise they did appeal to many of the third world countries who aspires to become commie-lite.

Good. yrosmug faces carved with despair will be some sight.

>none of the other 3 categories
Japan in the 1980s was culturally relevant

Nobody cared about weebshit until the late 90s.

I really don't understand you. Do you take pleasure in Europe's decline?

Yes

Why?

Divide and conquer - A sound motto.
Unite and lead - A better one.

China also lacks a language that's easy to speak and write. That in of itself is a major handicap.

Mandarin is actually as easy to learn and even more information dense than English.

Written Chinese is difficult. But pinyin (latin characters) and speaking Mandarin is really easy.

In some ways they decided to stick with written Chinese to keep foreigners away. Smart move

these maps have lots of little gems.

Well not really. It is a way to protect your industry and job market from workforce import. But considering the horrendous working conditions, who'd want to work there anyway? Same with japan, it's just an excuse to cover the fact that their language is outdated and unfit for a globalized world.

China is superior to the US in that their policies are actually predictable and they don't go from negotiating a free trade agreement with you straight to putting tariffs on everyone
They are also ruled by technocrats rather than clueless populists

EU

For what?

>who'd want to work there anyway?
plenty. they even have Chocolate City (Guangzhou)

I speak mandarin and write in Chinese everyday here at Georgetown university.

The tones are no more difficult than the 12 tenses I learned for Spanish.

I’d say about half the world would be willing to work in China.

Please stop using Reddit spacing. Thank you.

Lately there has been an unnervingly high number of CCP spambots on Sup Forums, so look out.

I hear this cultural argument pretty often, yet please tell me all those wars determined through cultural affinities and not pure political constraints?

Throughout the Cold War nations fought wars over ideology.

The same is true for WW2. There was nothing cultural about it.

Look at WW1, the war started because kings and queens said so. In some ways, those elites were more culturally and ethnically similar to each other than their own citizens.

So why exactly does culture matter more than an insignificant amount in geopolitics? How come only those who believe they have cultural power argue that it matters?
