The actual Wiki page is abject nonsense that I can almost guarantee was edited by someone with an agenda. The comment I linked simply points out that it is original research, because it is. To give an example, the page cites three papers in the bibliography section, one of which is Manfred Görlach. Except that Görlach never wrote on the Norman conquest and his paper postulated that Middle English was hybridised between Old English and Norse. Oops. Or where it notes that Old English lost most of its vocabulary by the Middle English period and spuriously ties this to the Normans, or claims that English has "one pattern of regular plural formation", which is simply wrong. The whole page is like this.

I dunno, seemed like a low effort task, and indeed it's piss easy to get to a conversational level (I think I still have to practice some more for that).
Getting really fluent is another story, years of immersion and consuming French culture, not sure if I'll ever get there, although I do enjoy some music, cinema and cartoons made in France.
