>top 100 full list:
bbc.com/culture/story/20170821-the-100-greatest-comedies-of-all-time

pretty good list

where Rosencratz and Gildenstern Are Dead, though?

>all that boring old shit

Pretty predictaboe but hard to disagree with. It's missing Ghostbusters.

>Blazing Saddles not number 1
Shit list.

Good list, dump withnail and I and replace with something new like anchorman or stepbrothers

If The Nice Guys, What We Do in the Shadows, and Arsenic & Old Lace aren't on here the list is invalid.

>all those FUCKING WHITE MALES

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

So how many are still funny today?
But I guess it's unfair to judge them like this. I like classic horror that usually aren't scary today.

If duck soup doesn't make you laugh then there's something seriously wrong with you

should cut it off at the 70s, even shit like dumb and dumber, there's something about mary or superbad are actually still watchable and way funnier than 90% of that list

>Annie Hall

They probably consider that the original play is the definitive version

>the absolute state of Sup Forums
Old comedies don't age

>dump withnail and I
Do kill yourself

It should be higher on the list

Chaplin was never funny.

pretty garbage list.

>Blazing Saddles
>good
reddit's that way, son.

>reddit's that way, son
>>>/9gag/

how the fuck can there be a list of the 100 best comedies without School of Rock on it

There's like 6 movies on this list that will get genuine laughter out of you. The rest are Reddit.

I love the meme old = good

how the fuck is dr strangelove a comedy

>Some Like It Hot at number one

Meme movie. A Night at the Opera should be at the top.

Most of them still are funny, except maybe Strangelove, since most weren't using topical humor which ages like dog shit.

It's honestly worth watching many of these older comedies to learn just how timeless many of the jokes can be, unlike with more recent comedies like The Hangover which I doubt many are going to remember even now, just a few years after its making.

>Used Cars not in the top 10

Shitty list.

fucking brainlet

Where's Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein?

>Superbad
>good
I bet you like Napoleon Dynamite don't you?

There is no way all these shitty old movies are the best comedies ever. Critics are not funny people, they don't know shit

So... is it the BEST comedies, not the funniest?

>100. The King of Comedy (Martin Scorsese, 1982)
What?

american (((((comedy))))) everyone

Yeah they should really get with the times. Will Ferrel dragging his balls across a drum is truly the height of comedy kino

The full top 100 list has shit like Bridesmaids and Mean Girls and Pulp Fiction for some reason, but they have to make sure the Top 10 is old "respectable" shit to make them look all classy and better than you.

>Airplane! that fucking high

It should be higher imo

>no MacGruber

Shit list desert sensei

Pretty solid list desu

I thought "comedies" were supposed to be funny? 80% of the shit on there wouldn't make me chuckle once.

garbage list.

>100. The King of Comedy
>99. The Jerk
>98. The Hangover
DROPPED
>64. Step Brothers
>46. Pulp Fiction
>44. BRIDESMAIDS

Am I the Only one who thinks The Apartment is a better movie than Some Like it Hot?

Dark comedy. The humor largely comes from the absurdity of the serious situation

>Walk Hard is NOWHERE ON THE LIST

Step Brothers is funny bro.

>#27

Sup Forums's top 100 comedies when?

I think his complaint was about Bridesmaids ranking above those two films.

Better movie sure, funnier certainly not.

Ghostbusters is on the list, but Ghostbusters is garbage.

#1: Schindler's list

I like it but no way it deserves to be that high.

why would you say somethign so stupid?

No Not Another Teen Movie?

>nothing has been funny since the 90's
Agreed

>no naked gun
>no Life of Brian
>no drunken master 2
wew shit list

>I can't read

The big lebowski isn't funny and anyone who likes it is wrong

Playtime is absolutely dated and unwatchable.

>Tropic Thunder not top 5

top kek, shit list

>naked gun #72
>life of brian #6

>Blazing Saddles higher than Young Frankenstein
>The Producers nowhere to be seen.

Way to get all of Mel's best films completely wrong

>all the Jew shit in top 25
What's the betting 90% of the critics are Jewish

How the fuck is The Nice Guys not on the list?

I meant in top 25, even so I am a retard

The Producers is number 40. At least Spaceballs didn't make the list.

Jesus fucking christ

>top 25 comedies
>top ten aren't all Jackie chan films
Shit list

>groundhog day

Call me a pleb but Borat, Tropic Thunder and Team America all made me laugh more than anything on that list.

Btw, the BBC did the same thing for films of all time and Mullholland Drv. Was no 1. Take that as you will

No, you're a retard.

It was a list of the best films of the 21st century and Mulholland Dr is objectively one of the best films of the 21st C

No.

>Memories of murder
>There will be blood
>The diving bell and butterfly
Just to name a few

Sunset Boulevard

Do you know how to speak English?

>There's something about Mary is a better comedy than Amarcord

Yeah, one of the bleakest films ever made about Hollywood is def a comedy

Look at the top 100 list, some shit films and completely misses obvious choices, Mullholland Drv is not even top 20 material

>Korea shit
No
No

I watched Dr Strangelove and had no idea it was meant to be a comedy.

>humor doesn't change as society and culture does

so you just read shakespeare and laugh your ass off?
>mods now warn for saying reddit
good board

Wow what a pleb

lel you're a pleb mate

do you just have to be a keyboard warrior about everything, user?

>no super troopers
>on the list or here
garbage list, garbage thread

Yeah it's pleb to think that fucking Diving Bell and the Butterfly Oscar bait isn't better than Mullholand Dr.

Borat should have been top 25

PA!

>Annie Hall
fucking DROPPED
Also it looks as though they've chosen comedies which are good films rather than comedies that are funny. I judge the quality of a comedy by how much it makes me laugh and completely disregard acting, story and cinematography quality, so Grimsby is what I consider the best. Anyone else do this?

sure but i end up with city lights anyway, so maybe it's the case with other critics and films on that list, go fuck a fat girl loser

>annie hall
>funny

pick one

I can't remember the last time I laffed at a woody allen movie

...

I laughed at the one which had Jesse Eisenberg turn down a hooker because she was Jewish too, but I don't think it was supposed to be funny

>1. Some Like It Hot (Billy Wilder, 1959)
wew lad. just downloaded this.

what about mind your language?

more like a meme at the opera lmao

>No Dumb and Dumber
what the fuck

>no Hot Rod
shit list

Superbad is a certified favourite of Sup Forums you raging newpleb

>what is black comedy
