that's a pretty neat cast. will I like it?

The soundtrack of the movie was quite good. Based Waters.

chinese actor starts to lose fame, gets into drugs and becomes increasingly depressed. whole movie is basically him struggling with it and his family trying to intervene. good movie, especially if you like slower paced without much dialogue.

also based on real life with the actor playing himself. side note too, the dude just recently committed suicide several years ago so it's as depression kino as you can get

I don't like how this movie is getting popular because dumbasses think its relevant

To be fair, I chose it for an example because my 4th grade teacher made us watch it. Is it really getting popular again?

What is wrong with the British and their fucking depressing animated movies.

Plague Dogs still gets me, I can't rewatch it.

it will ruin your mood for weeks to come

>GET DOWN YOU STUPID BITCH

Be careful, we've lost some anons to this chart.

Picrelated

Also taxi driver

Inappropriate movie for 4th graders

this movie good as fuck
yes, roger waters kino

This exactly.

have you seen Watership Down?

also Ethel & Ernest is a kick in a chest

Someone recommend me something that makes me want to drink and fuck myself up

slower paced AND without dialogue?

What's the fucking point?

shrek 2

How about a look in the mirror.

Brits were a mistake

Fuck this flick my dudes

The Road

Adolf Hitler The Greatest Story Never Told

Reading the book of this rn actually

arrrrrrrrgh!
>pan's labryth

I really want to read McCarthy, but for some reason only "No country" is translated in my country and im afraid my English isnt good enough to read the original versions since as far as i know the beauty of his books are in his top tier prose

>something that makes me want to drink and fuck myself up

>no blue valentine

>the average relationship
>depressing
It was practically a comedy - entirely predictable in every aspect.

Is Nocturnal Animals sad? If not should I watch Pans Labyrinth or Dear Zachary

The Road is pretty interesting in terms of prose, there's few commas, instead there's a lot of use of "and"

I feel it makes the writing much more visual

Two Nic Cage movies,
Leaving Las Vegas (1995)
Joe (2013)

Teenage angst kino : Un homme qui dort
Mid-life crisis kino : The arrangement
Old man's depression Kino : Youth

>get plague dogs vhs in my christmas stocking as a kid
>oh wacky dogs being chased by a helicopter, this should be fun!
>decide to watch it while i wait for my family to wake up and open presents
>mfw for the next month or so

The Road is a really simple book user, youll do fine

The last episode of Rome.
I'm about to start the second season, hopefully Servilia and her lackeys get the justice they deserve by Octavian.

*last episode of S1 Rome

Requiem for a Dream starts out slightly depressing but with some hope for the future, then shoots into full on manic depression.

only movies that made me "really think" are human condition and stalker, both those movies are a hallmark of story telling in cinema, everything else (for the most part excluding things like : come and see, hard to be a god(which should be on there)is just tear jerk movie making not on the same scale or thinking involved, and is just another movie you see for the sake of seeing

pleb

As depressing as it is, I can always find enough moments of dark comedy to justify watching it again.

Seen it over 50 times, shown to over 50 people, all of them loved it.

Depression kino of the highest form

I watched a lot of depressing kino but so far only Dancer in the Dark has been able to make me cry and feel sorry for someone rather than myself.

no Stroszek?

I suggest Outlaw Gangster VIP if you can find a copy. The movie is just one big downer about how the yakuza will royally fuck you over no matter how loyal you are.

Gaspar NoƩ's I Stand Alone is probably his best depression kino, and that's coming from someone who only makes depressing movies.

more disturbing than depressing imo

Was going to bring this up. Was absolutely highest form of kino.

Moon.

This scene was brutal.

...

One of my favorite movies of all time. It's so fucking good. Depressing but also hysterically angry as well.

Millennium Actress is sad (and very beautiful) but I wouldn't call it depressing, you might be crying when the credits roll but you're not gonna want to jump infront of a train or anything.
They Shoot Horses, Don't They? is another favorite and that will probably make you question if being alive is such a good thing.

>when the wind blows
ARE YOU AVIN' A LAFF

>side note too, the dude just recently committed suicide several years ago
?

>"Just stay with me... I'll get you there."

>Arlington Road

Fuck that messed me up, completely didn't expect that

>there actually is an island
>it's too far away for them to make it

Missing Knight of cups

>Rowf has been drowned and resuscitated repeatedly

>not this time.

Not only is this depressing, it's pretty damn pointless

They should have spent more time writing it before putting it on film

Gonna look for this one

Woah come on. No dead man's letters?

Too good for plebs.

Melancholia
Leviathan
Kumiko: The Treasure Hunter

>no It's Such A Beautiful Day
its almost like you want to be happy

Didn't Ian Curtis hang himself after watching Stroszek?

There's six of those movies

bump

V sad ;_;

There was a movie I saw as a kid that I am interesting on seeing if I can find. It had a scene that was very grey and some young long hair man shot a deer dead and then cried. I guess he felt guilty cause after there was scenes of him being haunted by deers. Does anyone know what movie this might be?
