Proto-germanic evolved in scandinavia (or possibly denmark) if that'swhat you are asking, before that all the languages in germany were italo-celtic

Out of Scandinavia. Everyone came here to hunt mammoth as the glaciers receded, but then they all went exctinct and the Germans chose to go back to continental Europe, I think 3000 years ago?

There were already scandinavians before the germanic migrations but they spoke finno-ugric languages, most likely theory is that danish sailors were both the ones to bring germanic languages into scandinavia as well as bringing it back to mainland europe

In the migration age some migrated out of Scandinavia but before that probably never left that shithole. They were always backwards and inferior.

Yeah, the baltics states are the oldest europeans who chose to stick around. There's a rock outside my supermarket where ritual sacrifices used to take place long before we got here.

Indo-Europeans entered Europe during the Bronze age so highly unlikely they came there to hunt mammoth.

Thats cool

But yeah to answer OP's pic proto germanic developed in scandinavia, while it was probably the danes who brought the indo european root there, after that it got out of scandinavia into mainland europe where it replaced the italo-celtic languages, and then divided into north germanic, west germanic and east germanic (RIP)

What happened to East Germanics? Did they get absorbed by Slavs?

What about the Basques?

East germanics were the goths
they became too wild and blanda up'd into extinction
There were goths in spain, italy, france, all the way to north africa (suebi/vandal kingdom), crimea (the last goths) and even the central russian steppe

They were too busy chimping out all over the place and didn't found permanent settlements anywhere. If they weren't so retarded Serbia and Poland would now be East Germanic.

well they kinda survived in Crimea until the 18th century but russians forced them to convert to slavic culture
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crimean_Goths

>Almost no signs of the Crimean Goths exist today. It was claimed by the Third Reich and by Adolf Hitler that the Crimean Goths had survived long enough to interbreed with later German settlers in Crimea, and that the German communities in Crimea constituted native peoples of that area. He had intended to re-settle German people to Crimea, and rename numerous towns with their previous Crimean Gothic names. During the Nazi occupation of Crimea, Sevastopol was changed to Theoderichshafen.[19] There was talk among Nazi officials of building a superhighway between Berlin and Crimea thereby turning Crimea into a German Gibraltar
