I think there may be confusion about Special Ed today or in different parts of the world.
My father had to go to "special ed" classes when young to work on his speech because he was developing an accent from my grandmother, who's native language was German.(She had a thick accent).
But in more modern times, when I was going to school in the early 2000's these classes had names like "Extra Studies " and shit.
The "Special Ed" was literally the room full of kids so autistic that they would smash their heads against walls, couldn't talk, and played with their shit.
So what kind of Special Ed where you in OP?

The work we did in class was a lot easier than "normal classes" and we had less home work and smaller classes. The kids in the mostly had behavioral issues.
