Cause it's good

if you liked the anime you should watch the new live action movie it's unironically kino

Only cause of the gay porn of L and Light

it gives weeb cucks a sense of delusion

Because it's better than your movie/

It's hard to mess up Sherlock Holmes adaptations. Just look at the mouse cartoon one.

we all self-insert as Light. an independent genius who was bored one day and took the opportunity to change the world by eradicating the human filth

I liked it cause of the smart writing and the cat and mouse game with L and Light.

hi friends if you liked deathnote I have a show for you it's called Spiral: the bonds of reasoning

unfortunately the anime goes anime original but the manga has a twist you could see coming but I guarantee you won't.

>ywn have two hot girls obsess over your affection

This desu.

Keikakus

Low IQ videogame players, underage, tumblrinas and fushoji scum

This is a show you need to watch with subs, not dubs. Difference is as dramatics as any Anime I've seen.

It appeals to loner teens who think they're smart because they don't like football.

Its decent and weebs have very low standards.

i didn't identify with Light at all, all i saw was a smart kid with a dangerous ideology
I enjoyed the show a lot though because the writing was all but air-tight and L and Light had a great rivalry.

I really don't think L should've been killed off, that was my only complaint. Light's reaction to losing in the end was perfect and exactly what his character would have done

keieaku

It's honestly really bad and doesn't hold up under repeated viewings. Like how the FBI is investigating crimes in Japan.

The idea is something a 12 year old loner edgelord does.
>le ebin cursed book I wrote my parents names in during social studies inbetween drawing swastikas on my notebook.

Its was lot of peoples first anime that they really got into, and if you haven't seen anything else, its amazing.

I still like it,but its not as good as i remember.

The desire to save the world is usually just a mask to rule it

He was an ok character in that sense. Too bad he became too evil way to quickly. As usual anime is far too exaggerated to ever be good. What's amazing is that Netflix took the IP and managed to make it dumber.

It really is amazing how western media companies have no idea how to adapt eastern media.

They can't even get fake anime like Avatar right.

>Like how the FBI is investigating crimes in Japan.
he was killing people all over the world including the USA you mongoloid

your opener is that it's bad because the wrong law agency is present? The letters behind the suits ruin the story? Christ.

Plus this.

>Like how the FBI is investigating crimes in Japan.
To be fair,Light kills criminals at a Lucretius rate,it makes since for the FBI to look into someone who can kill people with some super weapon.

He kill people all over the world too, including several American agents.

L and Kira out keikakuing each other.
It's no surprise the shows goes to shit once l dies.

*kills*

It's relatively clever. It takes a ridiculous premise and literally makes the most of it.
First half of this show is probably one of the best written/captivating cat and mouse games out there.

I liked how they kept overthinking all their plans

it's literally just a good show. once the game is afoot i found myself watching it for hours on end. death note is a show that i would recommend to people who don't even like anime.

you're joking right

What's a more engaging anime in your opinion? As in: Where do I go from here after just having watched Death Note?

Pretty much this.

>He went from killing murderers to killing police and people who commited lesser crimes.

He was a villain and indefensible.

I just watched it. It was ok-ish, but not half as clever as the original.

Only thing that comes close to Death Note is Code Geass, also cat and mouse game of geniuses.

which is why it was so great when he finally went down

>the police are good
Honestly Lights only mistake was not killing all non-aryans too. If I had the death note, the world would truly be a perfect place as fast as I could write.

I wonder if the books have a limited number of pages.

They don't. You can even rip pages out and it will still have them.

And the pages are still valid.

So why would it not fall under the CIA's directive you idiots?

azumanga daioh

there are no geniuses in code grass

death note, code geass, etc.

all literal high schooler weeb intellectuals with sub-70 IQs watching babby's first cat and mouse

pathetic

Chiyo chan vs L
go go go

It's good. I watch it from time to time. However, after my first viewing, I've stopped watching after he kills L and pretend he wins.

>Not Kaiji

What do you suggest kino master

>subtly calling death note shit
good job user

The ending redeemed it all for me, absolutely perfect.

I watched the English dub and the delivery for "MATSUDA YOU IDIOT" etc was perfect

So what the patrician cat and mouse

because kaiji is leagues above it

>mfw I watched all these in HS but realized how shit they were in university >stopped watching anime all together shortly after that
Japanese cartoons are a cancer on the mind.

Tom and Jerry

the user you're replying to is just is just baiting, Light was a narcissistic sociopath who did it all for his own ego, and made some bullshit up about justice, and that's very clear even early on

He said, posting on Sup Forums

Someone post the gif.
You know the one. With the swimming, and the backstroke.

>baiting
I think user might just be making fun of all those people who said Netflix Light was a great normal teenage character they could self identify with, unlike the sociopathic original.

So nothing. Thanks for playing.

>azumanga daioh
Looks acclaimed enough. Will give it a try.
Any more decent suggestions?

Name one (1) better cat and mouse play in cinema. I'll wait.

oh okay, I haven't watched the netflix one, but form the trailers that Light looks like the average school shooter
Monster, it's weeb Kino

>It really is amazing how western media companies have no idea how to adapt eastern media

Somehow they think that changing established ideas is a good move when making an adaptation. It really is amazing how stupid people with money can be.

Netflix Light ain't even an average school shooter. He's just an average teen.

Light should have done the eye deal.

>do deal
>kill everyone who's a threat
>become god immediately
>use the rest of the years to be god
>pass down powers to apprentice
>the end

Cause

Cheers bro.

I dont know what I like more. The Anime or the fact that hipsters got upset once it got popular and started hating it and saying that its for low iq people who want to seem smart. I mean.. its just a nice little anime. I just watch it. I dont try to feel superior by trying to see it as deep and im sure most people that watch it dont either. If you want to be a miserable hipster and think that then go ahead.

I sincerely apologize though for liking a popular anime and not one of your really deep underground animes that no one else knows about that you found on a vhs tape under an overpass in the sewers of new york made by a homeless genius methhead that killed himself once he was done making it because he couldnt handle the fact that he made the coolest most secret anime ever.

Im truely sorry.

it's never actually explained if the date of death seen through the eyes represents a natural death, or just a predetermined date, so while doing that would've made him the undisputed winner, he'd still die before Near even pops up, if the timeline I recall is correct

>edgy faggots and the fact that is was shilled as entry-level anime

was anyone else bugged by Kira being pronounced different ways by different actors? no one in real life does that shit, they only do it when they read an unfamiliar word and use their best judgment. like, if i tell you a name and you immediately mispronounce it then you're clearly a fucking moron, but in movies that shit is commonplace. triggered like a nigger over here, i tell you hwhat

His own ego is the whole point of his character flaw.

He doesn't want to die at all, end of story, he doesn't care about handing down power to a potential son or whatever. He only cares about himself and his own power.

I was supremely disappoint there was no swimming lessons scene in the Netlifx movie.

It's high concept schlock with simplistic writing. It grabs your attention and then demands basically nothing from you in exchange for some passable entertainment. It's literally something that any retard can enjoy.

Death Note was decent at first but then it just got drawn out like almost every anime.

Why didn't Light realize that (((they))) were the real ones with power and are usually hard to track down?

Jobless weaboos.

LOL

he didn't take a potato chip and eat it

what the fuck are you talking about, jesus christ

The cat and mouse game between L and Light. L knew it was him but Light was so smart he avoided any proof. At one point L has the police install cameras and bug Lights entire house. Yet Light manages to still kill people with the death note in his room while L and the police are watching his literal every move.

Steins;gate

Because he managed to find an impossibly small television that fit inside a packet of crisps. Wow, real genius, and totally not Mary Sue...

>we tell you one thing is happening
>we show you it happened
>but oh wait, this really happened
>cause it's good

It's pretty lazy

>impossibly small television
nah senpai, back when I was I had a portable tv, it fit in your hands and it worked pretty well, got lost though
also
>crisps
they're called chips you fucking euroape

Dub or Sub?

Light's Dub & Sub Formerly L's

You're right but the cat and mouse game as a whole was interesting and suspenseful. The amount of shit on top of shit Light stacked in advance for self preservation was insane. Once again L knew for a while that it was him he just had a hard time proving it outright.

L DIES

It's baby's first non-battle shonen.

he made me enjoy potato chips in a entirely different way

It only works as a manga. It's as simple as that. I could crack open Death Note at every volume and instantly be absorbed into it. It makes great reading and never gets so complicated you can't follow what's going on. My family all liked it, in fact my grandmother bought the last two volumes herself for us both to read

The characters are interesting, Ohba's writing is a bit dry but the art is fucking gorgeous, just a simple little morals/ideals battle for 12 volumes.

The anime tries to make it more interesting by going way over the top on expressions and cheapening the rare occasions Obata would get super detailed on an expression in the manga. Having Light practically dance on L's grave was just silly. They also fucked up the ending by letting Light die peacefully, but at least they remembered to include Misa killing herself

there is no chance to make a good live action death note in america because without Obata's art and 1:1 panel by panel faithfulness it just can't be as good. there is merit in panel to panel- faithful shows if every page was good.

I don't think it's loved but it was entertaining up to a point. It was hobbled with some bad writing towards the end which really sours many on the anime to a degree. Specifically after Light wins and kills L we are then led to follow these children who team up to avenge L and defeat Light. It's eerily like the final seasons of Stargate SG-1 the Ori Arc. It's a shame these things happened but it's best to stop watching at a certain before it's ruined.

I quit watching it around the time the corporation started using the Death Note. Light's plan grew waaaay too convoluted for my suspension of disbelief, and the twist seemed heavily telegraphed. I was also well out of my edgy teen phase and the boy-wonder light just came off as an asshole more than anything. L and Mia were fun characters. I liked the Dad, but the evil scheming shadow board members were too cliche for me. To date it remains the only anime I've dropped partway through.
