Well, she did not. She spoke some German, but pretty much only basic. At least I think we never talked much in German at all. It was always English.

As long as we don't overdo it I don't care about Germans and Poles intermarrying. After all, lots of Pomeranians and even people west of the Oder are of Polish ethnicity (die Wenden z.B. sind ein slavisches Volk das im Deutschen aufgegangen ist). But I see it's mostly about language for you. Important of course but it should work out for the Poles. Did in the past, at least. If your kids grow up in Germany and not in the completely infested areas then this will be no problem. I know a Polish couple and their oldest is now 6 years old. No problems whatsoever.
