Unions

Automated cars will kill the jobs.

>you can make more money collecting garbage in America than you can make as literally anything in Kazakhstan
freedom feels so good

Dirty jobs
Watch some mike rowe and dirty jobs

Low supply of these dirty workers and high demand = higher pay

hi Borat!

i'm actually okay with this. do you have any conception of how awful working with garbage is.

also, spoiler alert, our landfills will be leaking and the EPA knows they aren't doing enough to stop it

Automation will kill all jobs moron

Where do I sign up?

They get hazard pay, and union benefits. Thats why.

Also what they do is more important than what most peopel do. Waste disposal is a very integral part of a functioning society. Sitting in an office using Microsoft powerpoint isn't really THAT important to a society, its just a service to some company.

...

Automatic will kill all humans.

I'd do it for 100k,

>automated car
>somehow finds and drags trashcans over to truck

k

I earn about that much. I'm a ups package car driver. I'm pretty sure I have better insurance too. No college education. Just HS graduate.

labor jobs will be first to go though

Sanitation union had a lot of mafia involvement so they ended up being really successful. I live in NY and sanitation is the dream job for most guys.

What is the problem, exactly?

why is this a problem? those guys work hard days, and havge among the most effective net leverage of any worker in the US

>let the trash pile up for 1 month and lets see how much you want to pay them then

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compensating_differential

>those guys work hard days
No, they really don't.
Most guys go out with the truck for a few hours in the morning then chill for the rest of the day.

why haven't these killed their jobs?

You're clearly just buttmad that someone can make so much money from collecting your country from outside houses.

if you're dead broke your net worth is higher than tons of folks who went to college

if you're making minimum wage you're making more than a lot of folks who went to college

I report threads like this for free

harder than the fucks at UAW factories in Detroit. it really is a relative measure.

next you'll probably kick back with construction workers and riggers but most of them make decent money too.

I;m pretty sure we have monthly threads where we establish the merits of being a tradesman/shit-no-body-wants-to-do-worker

>Unions

It really has become one large scam, has it?
Everyone knows the US (and other western countries) will someday collapse under their debt and instead of fixing it everyone tries to be the last man to profit from this scam.

Really depressing, but if im honest I think the same way. Can't be fixed, so why not try to be one of the few getting something out of this scam?

>computers can land a fucking airplane
>thinks they can't figure out how to pick up a trash can

k

No, machines have been able to lift heavy things for quite some time and you still need labor, but we have had AI music composers, movie/game artists, newspaper/magazine/encyclopedia editors for only a short time in comparison and it is already significantly cutting into that labor market significantly due to the rapid development time difference.

lol how. couriers make like $20 an hour at most and the ones I know say being a fulltime courier is hell

I'm not trying to get into an argument or shit talk trashmen, but lets not pretend like it's back breaking work

They still strike despite being paid well and getting benefits. I hate them so much.

its the liberals who allow it. its unions bleeding the state dry. their pay is adjusted above minimum wage by a % and union leaders get the most but its all a fucking joke

in many states they dont make that much but in any blue state i wouldnt doubt it

Unions are strong in the cities, think about how long it took Uber and Lyft to finally get the cities to allow them to have drivers pick up from the airport without the taxi jews going apeshit.

>Also what they do is more important than what most peopel do.

Every job is important. Without people putting out trash, the garbage workers would have any work to do. No matter how you look at it, it's still unskilled labor.

Proper trade jobs are what makes an economy great. All you people in college that really have no place there are being jewed so hard and after, thrown into an economy that really doesn't need any of them. Well, no... The top 20% like they always have.

No, see
a huge portion of content moderation and creation jobs on the internet are automated to some level now. the only thing that stands in the way of full automation is improved context and image pattern recognition, but that's getting better literally every minute of every day.

We've actually helped that process along quite a bit by filling out captchas.

Given that garbage man works harder than a college kid, I'd say hes worth more than a lefty fag marxist.

hard labor SHOULD pay well you retard.

No, I'm not arguing here, and I won;t say it;s like south-east-Asian mining camp labor, but given how much of the work force is in the service industry, and how many would be unwilling to deal with trash, I would say it's certainly not the easiest job.

hmm someone makes 100,000 a year to work 90 hours a week + holidays to pickup peoples shit, aids needles and dumpster babies

really makes you think

The older I get, the more I lose all hope for my country. I used to think about starting a family, wanting to preserve our culture and tradition. But now the idea of becoming rich trough whatever, fucking anything that moves and traveling the world seems more interesting to me.

> they work hard

Fuck off. The flips at my local tims are constantly on the go and they make $10CAD/hr

Literally anyone with a heartbeat could do this job just as well.

Public union workers need to be gassed.

>bah, you dirty goyim dont understand
>hard work is scamming goyim of their shekels not picking up garbage

sounds like you're getting scammed by the kikes.

>Literally anyone with a heartbeat could do this job just as well.
why dont you do it then

see

>making 100k and actually working
>making a 100k and fucking around on facebook

I'll take the bottom one thank you. Enjoy your manual labor job while i'll enjoy my sit on my ass and fuck around on FB with my STEM degree on the wall

He SHOULD make more money than most college grads, as the work he does is more important than most of them.

Have you ever been in a city that was on a garbage strike? It ain't pretty..

Have you ever been in a city where all the Women's Studies majors are on strike? Maybe... I mean, how the fuck would you even know?

What if the trash can was upside down?

>The older I get, the more I lose all hope for my country. I used to think about starting a family, wanting to preserve our culture and tradition. But now the idea of becoming rich trough whatever, fucking anything that moves and traveling the world seems more interesting to me.

that is pretty much my experience.
I got to a point where im angry about the refugee crisis because I lack the capital to scam this dipshit nation by building some refugee center shithole.
There are so many people who got rich off the syrian road trip crisis last year.
In some cases the very politicians who invited the migrants.

The skills taken to be a rubbishman are far more common than those needed to complete higher education. It is not a case of which is "harder", but basic supply and demand.

Unfortunately the Unions have perverted the natural flow of the free market and have seen to it that the workers are paid in excess of their demand as if their supply was lower, so in this situation it is them who are the Marxists and not the students

Why do you think they are flooding our countries with 3rd world filth?

White men created unions to fight against the greed that kept them down to basically slave labor. In my country, Unions have more power than the corporations employing them.

They pushed feminism and trade agreements as a way to fight against it.

The greed on both sides completely destroyed our manufacturing and now they are killing off the rest of it with massive immigration.

They want to bring it back to the way things were at the beginning of the 20th centuries.

shart in marts don't have automated garbage trucks yet? we've had these robot arms for years

this is rare

according to our lord google : Garbage Collector: Salary Details. According to the BLS, garbage collectors earned a median salary of $33,660 in 2014. The highest-paid 10 percent of garbage collectors made $58,590, and the lowest-paid made $19,480.

Nurses

Sure, Hillary can't even open a jar of pickles, but she could be a full time garbage man if she wanted.

>>computers can land a fucking airplane
>>thinks they can't figure out how to pick up a trash can
>k

Machine learning trash robots are a pretty cool idea.
I can't wait for Sup Forums to train it to become racist and pick up mexicans.

i wouldn't know, i got a master's degree and work for fidelity as a CFA. i think the only job i ever had involving labor was a produce stocker at Kroger

well anyway i think all things considered i'd rather work in an office than pick up trash forever in the rain and snow

The trash workers in cities have to go where those can't.
Alleys
Buildings
Resturants
Watch the dirty jobs episode about it.

Somehow, the guy that picked up garbage for 4 hours seems to have done more good than the financier working 90 hours a week to create more illusionary wealth.

This. With unions you win, with globalist corporations you lose

Unfortunately most people here will say unions are bad and that multinationals should be able to rape the working class

If it's so easy go do it

They still ale you jump through a ton of hoops and basically make Uber not worth the driver's time to pick up at airports.

Trust me, I'm trying. It's a very high demand job, and the test for it only come around every couple of years.

Robots never harmed anyone
We are peaceful and don't want to conquer anything

Unions disrupt the free market, that is why you have a job that any able person can do with zero education and minimal training making $100k per year

>Unions disrupt the free market
How can Sup Forums hate jews but also hate unions?

>shart in marts
dank forced meme my dude
but we have those too, but as you can see in the video you yourself posted the driver operates the arm you dumb cunt

>low skill job
>high rate of pay
>excess of applications

It's almost as if the free market has been manipulated by socialists

Unions ARE the free market

this is obvious beyond belief

They do work hard though.

And they negotiate good pay through their unions.

And they work a job that actually contributes a lot to society.

>Have you ever been in a city that was on a garbage strike? It ain't pretty.

They have the privilege of going on strike because the waste disposal company is a local monopoly. If they privatize waste disposal service, these workers would be compensately more appropriately for their job.

>Implying Sup Forums is one person
>Implying I hate jews

>Unions disrupt the free market
unions are workers rights.

literally one of the few yet most powerful tools that workers have in the free market.

its literally the definition of a free market along with right to association.

Its not even robot, just manipulator that works on pneumatics/oil contolled by man
I am sure that it has only one circuit board with tiny atmega8

No they are not, the example in the OP is a perfect result in Union input

If a job is low skill it should be low paid as the amount of people able to do that job is high

HIGH SUPPLY
LOW COST

day one economics

Top rate in my area is currently at around $35 per hour. I'm also trailer certified that's another .25 cents per hour. I average 10 hour days most of the year and work 12 hours a day all through december. OT is after 8 hours of work. That's time and half pay so $52 per hour

The robots from the Matrix came from Arabia. Oh god it is all coming true!

100k in NY isn't that much. Low 6 figures is middle class. But even if I lived in NY, I would rather have gone to college and make less than 100k than work a degrading and shameful job.

the most powerful tool a worker has is to stop supplying his services to a substandard employer, Socialist unions disrupt the free market.

This, desu.
>my major in tertiary studies with a certificate in redundancy is just as important as public sanitation

Actually, due to New York's clusterfuck of a garbage collection system, we won't see automate garbage trucks until 2030.
Automate trash collection has existed since at least the 80s (same with self-driving cars) but its only feasible in some locations.
Anyone who claims that that the tech is better now can fuck off since I work in machine learning and know it limitations firsthand.
I also lived in New York for about six months, and 100k is not a lot of money and I honestly think the guy should be paid more.
>Unions
No, just a city full of snobby fucks who don't want to do shitty jobs. I live in NOVA now and trashmen make 100k here as well.

And yet people read this and still go to college for gender studies

>No they are not,
>unions are not free market

>HIGH SUPPLY
I forgot about the high supply of college graduates just waiting to get a job in trash picking.

Funniest German on the Internet, atm

100k in NYC will get you a 1 bdr apartment.

Thanks for Correcting the Program.

>2 AAA batteries have been deposited to your account

Then unions will complain about technology.

Holy shit this. Labor unions are the epitome of the free market.

>company wants to pay undesirable wages with little to no medical benefits
>the people use the only bargaining chip they have at their disposal. themselves, to bring the companies to negotiation
>contracts are formed, signed, or denied and renegotiated
>both parties agree to it

This is just a bunch of consensual agreements. Labor unions are the people controlling the market. If all Walmart workers got up off their asses, banded together, and negotiated better pay/benefits instead of begging the government to force Walmart to pay more, they'd be a lot better off.

I don't think you understand how labour is valued user. "anyone with a heartbeat could do it" doesn't decide the value of a job

>my job is hard so I should be paid more

the fact is that the job is low skill, so the pool of people that can replace you is high, if you want a pay rise your employer can find someone who doesn't. Messing with this balance ruins economies

Unions are the free market.
>yes, don't unionize so we can lobby for more "skilled immigrants" to drive down your wages and increase competition
Best goy.

you can get a fucking 500k house for that salary as a single person

How fucking stupid do one have to be to believe garbage men make $100,000 a year? And why has no one in this thread pointed that out yet? Is it because they just wanted to get side tracked on public employee unions?

If all companies go mostly automated, who would be their customers? at some point, companies will need someone to buy their shit.

>unions aren't free market
>there is a high supply of trashmen waiting to pick up garbage at any wage.
the britbong kike just never stops lmao

Jobs aren't valued on the amount of people that can do it. "anyone" could remove asbestos from buildings, yet the cost of that labour is very expensive for other reasons. For someone claiming "day one economics" you sure don't know the first fucking thing about economics

Immigration is a seperate issue.

Unskilled foriegn immigration from poor nations at a high rate will always drive down wages obviously.

You wan't limited skilled immigration and a free market, any attempts to control the market inevitably result in disaster regardless of how much you think you should be paid.

It looks like they get paid well as it is. You're the one abloo blooing over the pay rate and wanting to lower it, while spouting muh free market memes.

Garbagemen make a premium in most locations, union or not.

YES!
