I own two piston ARs in addition to several DI ARs. There are several negatives about piston ARs. They do tend to be a bit heavier and that weight is off the front of the gun for the most part. All piston ARs are proprietary to their manufacturer, undermining one of the key benefits of the AR platform. They also tend to straight up just cost more.
