I just want to say I REALLY love the new animation style. The lips are a little off putting on some characters but that's certainly something I can get used to if it means this jump in quality in every other aspect. It's so much smoother now. The eyes look 10x better. The fighting looks more dynamic. Seriously, all they need is to hire someone to better choreograph the fight scenes and we're fucking set.

I liked the scene just fine. It'd be cool if next episode Ruby picked up on how sour Jaune was and then realized her mistake, but it wouldn't bother me if it was never brought up again.
This new art style has some of the highest highs, but easily the lowest lows, outside of "The Scene". At least poser animation was pretty consistent.

I admit, as soon as Jaune mentioned his hood is from Pumpkin Petes, I too expected Ruby to start giggling and realize that Pyrrha used to be on the cover. Ruby's laughter went on for too long, and her head getting all big in a typical anime way was just too much.
M&K really missed a good moment there. I think they tried to show too much humor in the episode to make up for the dark ending of volume 3.
While it was touching to see Jaune use Pyrrha's circlet (and probably her shield and sword) to modify his own armor and armaments, I think that was not enough. I hope there will be more than that. I want to see a real Jaune angst scene, where he gets all gloomy and sheds tears. I want to see that after 6-8 months, he still has not gotten over Pyrrha's death. He looks to be doing alright, but is he really? It's not only about Jaune. I hope there will be a moment where Nora, Ren, and Ruby talk about Pyrrha, too. There are still 11 episodes left, so I'm sure we will see something more. They did not explain the red sash that Jaune put on. I hope it gets mentioned later.

The animation was always snappy, though. And they maintained a consistent standard. In the new style, you have gorgeous stuff like the Ruby scenes but then you have derpy shit like Papa Schnee and Blake's fight with Adam and the little Schnee

Pretty sure Jaune got all the tears out between the first little time skip between Ruby waking up and them all leaving together. It's been 6-8 months, he's had time to move on. Sure, when brought up he and the rest of the team will be sad to mention Pyrrha, but not break down in despair levels.

I get it that Jaune has moved on and did not think of Pyrrha the way she felt for him but we could have gotten some development for both Ruby and Jaune, we could have gotten Ruby still holding some doubt for herself as a leader and friend for not being able to save Pyrrha. We could have gotten Jaune saying that it wasn't her fault and saying that she needs to move on.
